Basically it would be a special item that would provide boosts to your character however it is destroyed upon death. There could also be command implants that allow the boosting of teammates but these are more resource and energy intense. There would be about 1-3 implant slots available for use. Implants would also reduce you max energy. So lets say you have a +1 melee damage implant, that would reduce max energy be 10 points. But a +2 melee damage would reduce by 20 points, and so on. A +1 melee dmg command implant would cost 20 energy, +2 melee dmg command would cost 40 energy. Also cant be un-equipped without being destroyed (would refund part of material cost). Implant ideas- Melee-damage, attack speed, energy use (for your lightsaber ) Ranged-accuracy, rate of fire, energy use (for your laser cannons) Defense-shield strength, dodging (higher chance to avoid getting hit) For the EVE Online players it would be similar to EVE's implant system but only with one or two implant slots.
The implants should be visible, like a cyborg eye for ranged, cyborg arms for melee and maybe a cyborg torso or legs for defence (?).
Sounds fairly interesting, reminds me of Deus ex. Maybe you could have a doctor on board the ship and he remove/place them for a fee. Also what if you could splice yourself with different animals for bio implants? After a certain amount of research on the creature has been completed "X's Implant has been unlocked!" "I asked for this."
How about breast implants? Defense +50! All joking aside, this honestly sounds like a good idea. Hopefully we'll expand on it more.
This is a great idea! But there should be downsides as well. Take for instance your standard TechPriest or Servetor from the 40k Universe, they are heavily enhanced at the cost of their humanity (in most cases). Also they are susceptible to dangers that wouldn't normally harm a completely organic being, that devilish device called a magnet.
Imagine running for your life, away from a cyborg and your buddy controls a crane and picks the cyborg right off the ground lol.
I would like that but i think there should be more to it than just cyborg parts. Like energy tubes feeding that part energy to preform said actions. or hardly visible radar waves. Stuff like that.
an added threat with implants comes the possibility of being 'hacked' by something and controlled by an external force. An upside to a wireless link to other things would mean you could control machines remotely without them needing to be in visual range.
4 implants total, I was thinking one for each arm and leg. Certain implants like melee-speed or jump height would be implanted to the appropriate limb. Because a jump-height implant makes no sense if you have it in your arm
This would be fun, but what about design complications? Say you have all three, and you were a griefer? What happens to the innocents?
I didn't think about body And I suppose you could have a small one on your head. Maybe something to do with vision?
well maybe instead of being like a buff it would be a debuff say if you got your arm ripped off you would black out and wake up in the doctors office and you would have a robot arm or you can pay for a real arm. the robotic arm would like lower your speed and could rust if in the rain too long.
Psi implants. Fill an implant space for a special power, rather than a stat boost. They would have to be potent or useful abilities, since implant slots would be the only way you could use them.
