Hi there! I'm probably relatively new to Starbound--I started playing back in February, but after the yellow robot guy destroyed me twice in a row, I kind of gave up for a few months. Anyway, I'm back at it, have defeated that mechanical bastard, and am livin' it up in the Gamma sector! Anyway, my character is a Glitch girl named Splignarth. She wears a crown. I guess she's royalty in my sad little world... Ahem...anyway, I've been kind of lurking on this forum for a month or so and just have to say you guys are fantastic! I love the helpful nature and creative spirit embraced by both the members and the almighty mods! It really is nice. Such good nature and positivity can be of those human traits few and far between in this modern, cynical world, and I am grateful for it. I'm also an amateur musician. My chosen genre is the ambient/atmospheric realm, and you can listen to and download my first album here. I remain staunchly gratified by any and all support and feedback anyone gives. Just having you--a heretofore stranger from my singular point of view--listen to and experience my art is an honor! (Seriously, it's an honor). So that's me, I suppose. I live in the US and am hopeful to buy my own house in the semi-near future. Oh, and I love baseball. That's all! -S
Hey there, welcome to the mad house your majesty Wow I will have to listen to your album a little better later, some really complex and interesting stuff. Always like the ambient stuff that doesn't instantly solidify in to something recognizable, makes it really great to listen to at different times with different moods The only critique I can offer is you need more laser harp........or more specifically I want a laser harp.
Hey! Welcome to the forums! I especially love your track, Killer Satellites. I think it's your best piece of the album.
Wow, thanks so much Izzabelle! I really appreciate it! That one has those weird drums in it (I think). They're not "real," of course, that is, I didn't record those drums myself. I just yanked some public domain drum recordings off the web and manipulated them. Glad you like it! I should also add, though it says "name your price" by the "download the album" thing, you don't have to pay anything; you can enter "$0.00" and still download it. I kind of hate that it makes you put that in there and you can't just say "FREE DOWNLOAD!" but alas that's what bandcamp makes you do (as far as I can tell.)
Thanks a ton, Nami! I appreciate the detailed listening approach! Yeah, I am also (obviously) into the more "amorphous" and vague musical composition style. I think it kind of allows (forces?) the listener's mind to fill in the smooth edges with imaginary detail--or something along those lines. Wow, that doesn't make much sense. At any rate, thanks again! And as I noted below, you don't have to pay anything to download it. I'm not looking to make money off of it!
Heh, no problem. It made perfect sense and even if it didn't your an artist, you're allowed to do that kind of thing. I actually had Bacteremiale playing while walking around Starbound at night.....man did it fit in beautifully I do plan on picking it up and would prefer to pay, just haven't done my Pay Pal budget for this month.....thankfully the Steam sales that were living in my wallet finished eating everything and moved on
I think I have discovered the one place on the internet that hasn't been corrupted by trolls or burned down in a flame war. Now to watch it burn... jk, and it looks like you really worked hard on your songs. I used to play the guitar and my sister plays the trumpet, but neither of us can actually create any songs, let alone an album. Then again, I haven't touched the guitar in about 3 years...
Faved page with your music, would listen to it as soon as possible. But managed to listen to Killer Satellites, I really like smooth and atmospheric music like this. Great job. ^^ Welcome here, be like at home.
You could compile it and then post it here: http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?resources/categories/musical-instruments-songs.13/ I would love to add some more tunes to my game!
The instrument system reads music in ABC format, as a music lover I'd encourage you to checkout Starbound Composer, it's amazing and can covert stuff to ABC. Oh and welcome
