I'm pretty horrible at writing out ideas in my head, could I get some help?

    If any modders, or inspired thinkers that have a good ability to write, could you please provide some pointers or feedback on how to come up with some great ideas that work in the Suggestions forum? I've got lots of ideas, but some help to convert them from mind to forum isn't my best talent.

    Here's an example of one: Click here , or just visit this link: http://community.playstarbound.com/...d-late-game-portable-storage-solution.108716/

    Would drawing/concept art help, or a certain style of writing help? Help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    If you have a suggestion, there's a few good ways to get your idea across.

    1. Accurate Explanation.
    Start off by saying you're going to explain in detail. Then, go over EXACTLY what you want. For example;
    I'd like to request a mod, and here is what I have as a concept;

    I would like for X to be added to the game, either through an item or a tech. X would be used like a Sword, but its alt fire would be used as a shotgun. The projectile from the alt fire would be homing rockets that deal massive knockback rather than damage. Preferably, the weapon would have endgame stats, but any reasonable stats would be fine.

    You want the potential modder to understand your idea. By explaining what you want, you get the point across. Just type it out, note your grammar, and be descriptive.

    2. Drawing
    Sometimes the best things are drawn, not said.Excuse the crude doodle, it's 4 am and I can't sleep.

    3. "Keep It Simple, Stupid"
    As my art teacher in high school always told us, we should focus on the point and not everything else. Continuing with my bad example;

    I'd like to request a sword that fires rockets when you click RMB

    You don't NEED to be extremely detailed, but just say the basic idea and add on to it when someone asks about other details.

    Looking at your example, you did a good job with my first suggestion. You were thorough with your explanation, and you kept it all on point. That is how you should structure a detailed suggestion. More or less, it boils down to "Is this easy to understand, as well as gets my point across?"; you want to explain, but not ramble, which you avoided doing.

    You'll do fine making suggestions if you keep them structured the way you already had, or if you follow one of my other examples. Just don't go off on a tangent and bring up unrelated stuff, and you'll be fine.
