i was wondering what types of building/houses will feature in the game. i read that you can build them yourself block-by-block, but there would be pre-build houses. does that also mean that your citizens has their own jobs, housing and architecture (based on their culture)?
A quick response for ya.. this is from one of the FAQ (Here) But about Pre-built houses, this was in the "Offical FAQ (Here)" (Note, came before the other linked FAQ) So I hope this answers your question, about both types of building.
Yeah i read that, but how does that affect your citizens? For example: when you place a bar (if that's possible), will people start hanging around it? Of if you build a spaceport, will we see citizens arrive and leave your planet?
I completely misread you question, oops.. heh. This is a good question if there will be "Homes" like there were in Terraria, unfortunately no idea.. One would hope that this there is some way to make a location for NPC('s) to gather, but I have not heard anything on these lines. I would hope the beta would clear up a lot of these questions, but that just means waiting. Since there are quite a bit a "Lessons Learned" from Terraria I would guess there will be something on these lines, but that is just my opinion.
It would make your homebase much more lively in my opinion. I hope there will be more variety than in terraria. Most people only build one big fort with rooms, but I rarely saw complete towns with different homes.
I can see it working like Dwarf Fortress, where (when building a town) you can set a building as a meeting place or set it to be for housing, etc., but this is all conjecture and we really have no idea.
If we build, they will come... I hope. But on topic, I don't believe they've mentioned that, but it would be awesome.
It's preety good idea with that spaceport. Some of NPC could have bad ships and not being able to land on not prepared terrain, so it has sense that some of them can join to you only if on the planet is some kind of spaceport.
it would be awesome to at least see other ships arrive and leave the planet in the background of the world when you visit. it is easy to script and animate and it will give your home a lively environment
