How do I remove those things that block the way into my new space ship upgrades? ( these: http://gyazo.com/5c45536902ab3fc4ef271d326ab4c217) Im stuck now because I cant enter my cockpit either...

Just mine it with the matter manipulator, unless yer glitched, they should be mineable.

not everyone thinks of mining it at once since u cant destroy anything else in the ship I just asumed I couldnt break these either

 

You know you can mine out the background too, right?

 

That would be the most troll thing the devs could do to an upgradable ship by blocking off every new part with blocks that couldn't be mined lol.

 

I'm not completely sure why those blocks are even there at all.
They serve no purpose, they just get in your way.

 

It's gift wrapping!
The horizontal blocks prevent items from falling through the floor as the ship expands. (If you placed furniture on the floor and then suddenly there is a hole in the floor, the furniture would fall down). The vertical I'm sure prevent some kind of bug from happening but I can't figure out what. So, I think of it as gift wrapping

 

I theorised once that maybe if you had a room filled with liquid, it's to prevent spillage. But really I have no idea. Gift wrapping it is.

 

I also did not get that you are supposed to mine those blocks at first. I shot at them. And they broke very slightly, that gave me the clue to dig.

 

Thinking a bit more about it, there are furniture items that you attach to the wall/ceiling. I think that must be why they did it this way, so you can't lose any furniture.

"Oh look, blocks are blocking my way, guess I should just mine them"

and I never ever thought anyone wouldn't realise that you had to mine them

 

I had a huge outpost shipping crate, several stacked boxes and several lunar lockers in the bottom of my ship and when I upgraded it expanded the room further below, the crates ended up sitting on the hazard blocks. I'd rather have to mine away some blocks (which I use as immersive decor anyway) than have a buttload of items all over my new floor.

 

Sure, but that's the horizontal hazard blocks, we're wondering why vertical hazard blocks are a thing.

Hmm, I always thought kind of to show you where the new upgrades actually effected the ship. If you've got a mess of items I could understand a room going unnoticed amongst the clutter. Dunno though.
