If you could add a race from another franchise to Starbound, what race will it be?

I think Pikmin would work pretty well in Starbound. They could help carry resources when your inventory's full, and you couild leave them to dig a tunnel or something while your busy exploring.

I would say Grunts from the Halo franchise. It would be so fun to see them spirited.

 

Vullards from Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time. With all the junk being made by the mysterious antagonist who blew up your homeworld, they'd certainly have plenty of work to do.

 

Maybe less of a race and more of a customization but:

The transhumanism shtick from the tabletop rpg Eclipse Phase. Be a cross between futuristic humans and nanotech.
