If you could add a new resident to the town, what would their profession be?

How about somebody you could hire to feed your animals everyday ( if you don't have an auto-feed-system) and collect eggs and milk, etc.
He/She could also put the milk in the cheese press and smelt your ores into bars. That would be a good help.

 

Thought of another profession that hasn't been mentioned yet: A banker. Somebody in charge of the local bank. Would be especially important due to the proximity of the town's local businesses.

 

Have labourers been mentioned? Ie crop pickers/lumberjacks (who work at a much slower rate than you could do yourself, and cost money, but free up your time)? I'd love to fully automate the farm

But what I would love to see is a furniture/decoration shop in town.
I never decorate my poor house, mainly because I suck at interior decorating but the fact we have to run all over town to buy decorations, wallpapers and flooring doesn't help.
Would be nice to have one place to go to and it would also be nice if the items didn't rotate like it does right now because that sucks too.

 

The only thing I think Stardew Valley desperately needs is a cheerleading squad, srsly, I need some motivation to farm sometimes. Specially if it's milking cows, ew.

Something I was thinking about is a *drifter*, something like Linus but a young person who doesn't know what he/she wants to do and is trying out everything, saying *will I like this...?* I imagine a lot of young people don't have a clue what they want to be after high school and have a lot of questions. So...drifter, but if you don't influence this person in certain ways, the person is gone after a year

This is exactly what I've been thinking. An inn/housing where the 'young adults' eventually move to later in the game? Sam talks about having to move out soon and I always wonder where. Unless he plans on living in the city there doesn't seem to be property available, except for the abandoned JOJA. A place where the innkeeper lets Lewis stay during the winter~ Or Caroline becomes the new inn-keeper and JOJA introduces NPC in charge of the Pelican Town branch who's supposed to boost local PR with country people and farmers~

The tourists at the annual Fall Fair are interesting and they frequently stay at the inn. Once in a blue moon Mr. Qi likes to people watch from penthouse (literally the third floor but it counts). Haley and Emily's parents come visit every year during the winter and they stay at the hotel along with extended relatives and friends from their travels. Random family members (Willy's comrades from the Fern Islands, Elliot has an older sister and a younger brother who wear similar outlandish clothes, Demetrius's cousins come to learn more about the 'stardrop' of the valley) could have cameos in later years.

 

If any new NPC is introduced similarly to Kent (later in game) it would be interesting to see connections with local townspeople. Maybe they're just drifting by every four years or so. Maybe one or two would settle down and decide to purchase the abandoned building and set up a new business because as it stands right it's really pointless.

Oh! I would like an easy-going person, who simply just enjoy what life has too offer and never complains about anything. This guy/gal lives in a cabin on the mountain, have their own garden and a pet.

 

I would like one more creepo in town that share my intreset of sneaking in to peoples beds look to their things, I feel lonely

Well Emily is already a tailor but it would be cool if she moonlighted doing it for work. And there are extra rooms at the Saloon, so maybe with an expansion it could also be an Inn?

I'm guessing with 1.1 we'll see a divorce attorney, though that could be handled by NPCs traveling from Zuzu City to Pelican Town a couple times a month. If 1.1 brings more NPCs then maybe we'll have more need for jobs and professions that have to do with tourism, visitors, etc.

 

I would second the Veterinarian. Have to have the animals checked once a year, dog or cat need their shots. The reminders would make nice mail events.
You should/would/could also go and see Clint once a year for horse shoes in order to keep your horse. Be nice to make him do something.

As for an inn... There should be a hotel in the desert. They have a casino there... Have it send challenges via the billboard and mail to bring items. Better yet
have contracts sent to keep delivering Mayo and Milk and wine and all that. Once a month have to load up and deliver. Gives me something to do besides just
dump stuff in the box.

 

Someone with a stable/ranch to sell me more horses. That'd be great. Honestly, where I'm at in the game now money-wise, I could pretty much ditch all the cows and chickens and just sink all my cash into a great big horse ranch. You could collect different breeds or color varieties, and maybe npc's could pay you to go horseback riding on some trails or something. Or they could be purely aesthetic, something fun to do when you've finished everything else and don't really need the income anymore.

I also second the idea of someone selling us furniture and things to decorate with...both indoor and outdoor furniture. Perhaps they could give you the option to customize the colors of the items to fit your decorating style and all items would be available at all times (so no running back and forth to Robin's to see if she's selling that ever-so-elusive mahogany dresser you want). You could expand on this as well with someone (maybe just Robin) to add *more* rooms to your house, and to paint your house the color scheme you want (I know there's mods for this, but would be cool if it's already in-game).

 

Furniture, Wall paper and Flooring Shop..?? Yes please.
Running to the store to check Pierre's offer of the day every day and the up to the Carpentry Shop hoping to find what I want gets tedious.
And makes me a sad most days.

 

Secondhand Thrift shop. Buy different clothes and sell your unused stuff.

 

I'm not sure about a profession, but if any new NPCs are added, I'm really hoping for some couple diversity. While there are around 8 straight relationships mentioned (4 married couples, Clint's crush on Emily, Marnie and Lewis's affair, the Wizard's ex wife, the implications Caroline and the Wizard had an affair.) it's incredibly bizarre that you can end up the only non-straight couple and no one bats an eye, (The only references to your gender is by who you're wooing depending I'm pretty sure. I actually disliked Abigail's.) so adding a character/couple or two to balance that out would help.
An inn keeper is the only job I can think of though.
