If we can't sell the junk, then let's salvage it

This has probably been brought up a hundred thousand times already but let's do it again.

If we can't sell the items we acquire that have no use for us, then we need a Salvage table or Station that takes stuff and breaks it down into components, or resources, or both.

 

We'll be able to sell weapons eventually, it just hasn't been implemented yet.

 

I would definitely not be against having a salvage thingo nonetheless.

Hope I'm still on topic, but I'd like to have 2 options

1: you sell your stuff for some pixels, or...
2: you salvage your items for a chance of getting either:
A: an useless cheap piece of scrap metal, or...
B: an useful upgrade, like an augmented clip magazine from a gun, or a better blade from a sword, then you could use these upgrades in another item

I like your idea, but I'm not sure how I would feel in trying to get rid of a useless piece of equipment and getting something even more useless back most of the time. It would be good if the scrap metal was one of the following: something used in a crafting recipe, something that can be recycled to get ingots, or a decorative building block.

 

I'd like to be able to "melt" down decorative items for pixels.. And "melt" down weapons and possibly armor for... let's call it scrap; used to make weapon augments (if that kind of thing is ever added) or to roll random weapons at a special station, with higher level weapons taking more scrap, of course.

 

This thread should probably be in the suggestions forum. Maybe ask a mod to move it there.

That aside I love this idea.

 

And please oh please, give our inventories an auto-sort button.

I've always despised auto-sort buttons. I'm a freak when it comes to organizing my stuff and I organize it my way.

Those darn buttons... It have happened in most mmo I've been playing that I accidentally press the button and it sorts everything which ruins my organization :'(

 

I feel you. I hate rearranging my inventory while playing Terraria.

I hope that no one minds me mentioning another game here. :S

I know that feel. Seriously though, I really wish there was some good way to manage my inventory. I love adventuring in Starbound, but until recently I used to hesitate to do it since I'd have to sort out my inventory when I got back. Which would be a 20 minute process due to my sorting methods. That's when I learned to just delete everything, which is really quite depressing.

I would absolutely adore if someone does a mod that adds more backpacks! The first slot are for general stuff, second are for dirt etc and then there could be a third for ores.

That would be sooooo rad.
