If there was a pre-order tier to let you be a npc, what would your's do?

Discussion in 'Starbound Discussion' started by V For Vendetta, Apr 11, 2013.

  1. A Haqu Serbvium NPC that would constantly complain about there not being any playable cat races.

Also will harshly criticize your ship's interior

Or a Suweeka NPC that would almost always break the fourth wall when spoken to, such as inform you about the two ways of earning money in Starbound, which is be a merchant, or be a player character.

A guy in a jester outfit that stands next to a chest and says he can't open it and that if you open it you can have whats inside.

Then you open it...BOOOOOM(that's the chest exploding not the jester shooting you)...you dead.

I would be a glitch NPC disguised (holo-emitter creating the illusion) as a rock, that when you interact the illusion is cast off. I would offer advice in the form of haiku's and sell one item/block that confers to that advice.

But with my financial situation I would probably buy lowest tier (if they were to do it in the form of a kickstarter) or I would wait a week or two and save for it.

I'd pay double whatever this game cost, even if that cost is my left ...ahem..... >.>

Highly doubt they would do this, but if they would, I guess I could be some random peon-like NPC speaking in orcish.

My NPC would ofcourse teach the majestic arts of doing a barrel roll... A literal barrel roll, that is.

    Yes... I think I do.
I still don't understand though why would you need so much potatoes?

I'd add one brown branded, thin-hungered, grey-haired old man, sitting cross-legged, kind of mediating all the time. Giving him what he wants (mostly random stuff, sometimes dirtblocks, sometimes rare stuff) will let you receive very "useful" tips, such as "You worship a sun god." or "Smile and the world smiles with you. Weep, and you'll weep alone." a.s.o. But sometimes you have the chance to get some cool stuff. Of course the item or the pearl of wisdom are not bound to a specified item, there're no predictions.
If you don't have the wanted amount of that wanted item, you won't get another chance to trade with him. Maybe after a period of time or after re-teleport... but.. dunno.

I would have my Floran character, usually in a lab, giving witty comments with a very caustic humor when spoken to. She would also sell genetic enchancement capsules (sort of like tech, you choose one at a time but it give bonuses linked more to physical ability like breath, vision and other).

I want an Adam West NPC that has no use but to have crazy shannanigans and grief your planets.

I want an avian NPC that occasionally flies past you on a hoverbike and jumps off mid-flight, landing a massive flaming punch on a nearby enemy while yelling the punch's name. Possibly says "Show me your moves" and challenges you to a race if you interact with him afterwards.

A man in full plate decorated with the sun, each time seated next to a fire. Each time you encounter him you'd get another snippet of dialogue such as "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you had feelings for me!" Find him enough and he goes mad and attacks you resulting in an epic boss battle.

Probably I'd want a floating crystalline asteroid with a human-looking npc that when you take him to a solar system with a yellow sun, becomes extremely powerful and protects you from enemies. And gets killed by green rocks.

  16. Fathomir

    Fathomir Big Damn Hero

Lone-wolf styled NPC on a desert world. He would be encountered a few times without saying anything before speaking to you, asking why you were after him. (Back story, he was chased across the galaxy for the last 4 years for a crime that he did not commit, forcing him to do some unsavory things in retaliation to those after him.) In the end, he'd join your crew! :D

I'd sit around your spaceship and do absolutely nothing except hint that I'm part of some grand scheme. Innocent mentions of a master plan that never ever lead to anything.
Everyone would have to keep me around, though, just in case I actually am important >:D

FTL Reference? No wait it's Superman. xD

I'd be the odd, mysterious character who has his own ship and always seems to have already been to planets the players are visiting. They may or may not actually find me. I just like to travel around wherever and leave my mark somehow. Like the Sign Painter in Word of Goo. xD

Maybe I'd do like he does and leave actual hints or warnings.
