Um...no it isn't. The only way to get access to the code is to use the MCP decompiler tool, which also unobfuscates most of the code. Notch never officially released the code base, nor has he released any modding tools. And if Minecraft had real mod support, mods wouldn't break every update, which is why I don't update Minecraft that often if I can help it.
Notch also left the most lucrative Indie Game ever, and I pretty much count the decompiler as mod support, because there is an open section for it on the forums, so they have "allowed it" in a way.
[quote="TheDeviant, post: 45862, member: 3164" Also a post by Klok on Variable Gravity/Friction: "I hope gravity varies per planet, along with the size of the sun sprite in the background. For example, a small sun sprite indicates the sun is far away, leading to low gravity. A huge sun sprite means high gravity. And maybe no sun at all indicates zero gravity, so the smallest jump will launch you a mile and a half. Now only that, but variable friction would be intriguing. Imagine some planets having air so thick that you instantly come to a stop when you let off the button, and it takes a second or two to build up momentum to move at regular speed. Also, your falls might be slowed because of this, making some falls harmless. Combine the two, and moving about on a gravityless and frictionless planet is deadly without getting something to anchor yourself to the ground, ie: grappling hook."
My statement was based on this part. Anyway, love your ideas.
My statement was based on this part. Anyway, love your ideas.
We also had another statement exactly the same as yours, referring to that same post.
maybe you could edit 1st post and cut that part... your choice tho I think i will survive with that statement written there anyway. As this has been stated before i think it is useless to comment this part and move to the other part of your post, wich is far more interesting and should be implemented for most part. And sorry for interruption
You're crazy! In a good way. Just reading some of these ideas made me gasp in awe. Procedural Generation...Y U NO EXIST IN OTHER GAMES?
Minecraft has Procedural Generation TerrariaRV has procedural generation Spore has procedural generation etc. (The game I'm working on does as well.)
Minecraft's Procedural Generation is not exactly what I meant. What's TerrariaRV? You've already mentioned Spore. What game are you working on?
This is super ambitious, but would really be amazing, i expect to see this from the modding community rather then the vanilla game though.
1) Essentially, Terraria reworked to take up about as much RAM as Minesweeper and be as fast as loading a webpage when generating. 2) I know, but it is a good reference point. 3) <unnamed> Imagine Skyrim mixed with Spore mixed with Sanctum mixed with Rock of Ages mixed with Civilizations mixed with...<twenty games later> Magic the Gathering. Essentially, you assault an entire enemy civilization, commanding armies, going from your planet to theirs' (or a closer distance) micro-and-macro-managing troops and using card-game-aspects and RPG elements to govern combat as well as interaction with the enemy civilization. Like, you're in Galaxy Mode in Spore, you take an army, and you try and take on the Grox-ish. (All of the ideas in this thread are pretty much in this game, other than obviously 2D-ness.)
I only know 3 out of the 6 games you actually listed O.O But that sounds super ambitious. Best of luck to you!
Good sir, you owe me a new mind. My previous one has been blown. I really hope these ideas make it into Starbound... And I'd like to hear more about the game you're making. It sounds interesting.
