Idea: Upgradeable Matter Manipulator

I really really like the idea of the matter manipulator, it's an awesome concept. I wish it were relevant longer in the game though! Because in the very beginning, after I get the stone axe & pick, I always put it in a chest and never touch it again, just because the tools are much faster. It would be awesome if you had the option to craft upgrades to the matter manipulator using materials that you would have used to craft a pick, such as copper, silver, gold, etc..

I would really like to be able to use those materials to upgrade the matter manipulator and just carry that around with me, rather than have all sorts of tools clogging up my bar.

[EDIT] Upon investigating and sifting through some of the forums, I have found that this subject has indeed been mentioned many times - unsurprising. I also tried the mod mentioned in this thread that makes it possible, and I have discovered that I would honestly rather just use the drill. It completely satisfies my desire for more technologically advanced mining equipment.

On another note, I agree with you. But its whatever the dev's want. I think its mostly just one of those things that you have to resort to if you run out of anything else. Like a pickaxe.

 

I can't say I'm surprised to hear that, but I spend more time playing the game than sifting through the many posts on the forums. Just wanted to post a thought that I had.
Also, I just hit the "Leave Feedback" button on the launcher, and posted where that took me.

It's too bad, I feel like space-faring, technologically advanced species would be using something a little more advanced than a pickaxe. But I guess that's why there's a drill.

Still though, the matter manipulator is cooler if you ask me.

 

It already exists as a mod. If they don't add it in on their own by release, just mod it in.
