Imagine this: Each race have a basic, medium and an advanced of structures. Any player using "X" race can learn and develop to advanced structures, but a member of another race have to access only the basic or medium structures. Each group of sctructures have an important resource to help ingame. Outpost - You can store your items without fear of another player try to steal you. And have the right to lock and control the access of this structure to your party or clan (friend list) only. Infirmary - Can respawn a player in the registred infirmary of your own race, in the planet. This avoid the respawn in the spaceship and have to go down and walk all way again... Refinery - Can produce high-quality fuel to your ship. Communications center - Give to the player the option to chat directly to a ship, party or person of other planet. This is a private and not a open-server chat. Spaceport - Can travel from planet A to planet B in the same solar system without paying fuel to travel. But can't give you the option to travel to another solar system. Arsenal - Can produce special weapons and combat machines. Prison - In PvP worlds or NPC special worlds, a clan leader can make a prision to lock someone under a limited area to "live" in the prision, without teleport and if dies, respawn in the cell. Arena - To battle using your pets, machines or yourself. If you die, you respawn inside the staff area, of your side of the arena. Turrets - To serve and protect you, killing anything near of your structure. Power generator - To generate power to convert to make ship fuel or resources to produce special items. Hidroponics - To raise plants in any place, anywere, without rain or sun light. Player Shop - Place your stuff here. Sell everything, without fear of someone steal your items or try to destroy your shop. Disabler Wall - To prevent someone to desconstruct your builds, remove your stuff and go away. Every player have only two pair, to protect only a pre-made and restricet space. Teleport pod - Build a alternative teleport point, for a limited use (each use eat pixels?)
Structure details: Outpost: 4-level structure, with place to build a item back in the planet, a medical bay (custom spawn in the planet), some room to your friends, a "clan" or "party" workshop, to make items to use for the entire team. Infirmary: 2 level structure, with a medical bay and a medical workshop to produce medicine, food and some special pvp and pve consumable items. Communication Center - A tall but slim tower with 5 or more levels, with a disc in the roof. Aside the private chat with other communication center, space ship (pc or npc), you can scan around, checking other solar system and checking if is suitable to visit or not. Spaceport: - A 3 level structure, with a small ship to use only to travel in the same solar system. The ship can land in a custom point in another planet, making a new spawn point without using a Infirmary or another spaceship. But the bad side: The small shuttle can be destroyed, leaving you alone in the planet. Arsenal - 2 level structure, with a shooting range, a training dummy and a weapon / armor workplace to make your suff here. Prision - Leaving openly, because each race have your own theme... Turret - A fixed structure of the size of a human mech, but in the inventory take 6 slots of your back (not an item slots with 4 slots, 6 items slots!). You can buid one turret to protect half game screen. Types: Laser (quick with light damage), rocket launcher (slow, with heavy damage), flamethrower (heavy damage with limited range), spear laucher, gatling gun, etc.
it's a good idea but can use a bit of tweaking and maybe even more buildings and recipes maybe even a crafting station for these types of items as well
I'm not entirely sure about this concept, mainly because it devalues the building part of the game by essentially doing all that for you. I do like the idea of the various structures and their uses, but would much rather see these things implemented as items you can place within your own handmade structures rather than being structures in of themselves. Or I suppose you could do both..
