i49...fail?

Well, Duncan played okay, as for other two... let's just say they accurately emulated gaming skills of some 10 years old

 

I honestly think they played that way for comedic purposes sure it's not my type of comedy but it's such none the less.

 

Those noobs that got to play it and watch it can't appreciate it as much as people who have been following it since 2012. Like my self. I feel somewhat cheated that they got to play it when die hard fans have to wait almost 2 years. I think development would go much faster if they got the game out there so we can actually smash out bugs faster. Also I was seriously confused when Bart said PRE ALPHA. Pre Alpha would signify that it's not even in Alpha stage. What the crap is going on. Most likely this post was made out of jealousy. But I do have a point.

 

Technically we are noobs as well because we have yet to play it, any one other than the devs would have been noobs. The whole point of that was a marketing stratagem it was not meant as a serious walk through. He was nervous they are not in pre-alpha they are in alpha.

 

Yes maybe we are but freak I know to do things in the game from just watching countless videos and being in several chats. It just seemed frustrated that these guys were tripping over themselves in the game and I just wanted to grab the keyboard away from them and say "go away you don't deserve to play this game, I have been wait for this game for a year and a half". I know that seems selfish but they don't deserve it.

 

I understand life is tough that way we can't always get what we want when we want, it is frustrating. I agree I do find playing dumb annoying when it comes to playing a game so that little kids will laugh.

I had a hard time watching, but that's because I don't really care for Sips and Sjin. Not that they're terrible in everything but their sense of humour is kind of uninteresting to me. Otherwise the content shown was fair enough, though the dev stream recordings (the few there are) and other videos I found provided more content and less "silly".

 

It was a necessary evil lol.

 

-Guys they said in another stream that the guns aren't supposed to be able to mine/chop down trees so easily, it was a bug.
Anyway yes the yogcast was supposed to increase the starbound fanbase.

 

They didn't have enough resources to leave the planet

 

The moment I saw they got the boss spawner from the chest I immediately implied someone somewhere was using director mode and edited that in.
I presume they just put it there because the Yogscast were going off track way too much.

 

I didn't get to watch the stream due to work. When I came to the forum later, I saw all these negative comments about the Yogs stream of Starbound.

I then watched the YouTube video of the stream, excepting it to be bad. It wasn't bad at all. So the guys goofed off. So what. Isn't that what TB and Jesse Cox did with their Terraria series? Did it hurt Terraria in any way? No? Okay then.

With that in mind, I say we sacrifice the complainers on the alter of the great Space Butterfly. Have a nice day.

 

I was almost screaming at my computer monitor telling them to actualy get somewhere we haven't seen yet rather than shoot each others tents all stream. I knew there time had to be limited so you can understand my frustration when the only realy new thing shown was the boss. I don't know why some people were disapointed in the boss I thought it was rather cool. I mean what did they expect for a Teir 1 boss. I am Just mad cause they goofed around all stream and had no time to do anything else after the boss.

 

I think the devs said that they rushed to get the boss in for i49, so it's likely there was nothing else to see after it.

 

I finally got the Vid Watched... I agree with the '3 Stooges' thing.

I'm starting to wonder if it's gonna be impossible to play through the game full Melee...

 

One thing to consider is at events like i49 there is a LOT to do. Most people will not stay for an entire demonstration before they move on to the next thing. I wouldn't take it as a sign for anything negative.

I personally thought that it was a good exhibition. Except for the end when Duncan somehow magically know where a chest was that happened to have a emergency signal in it. I know they wanted to show off the boss fight but Duncan was not very sly.

 

I think the audience had alot of fun aswell.

 

It made me smile a lot. I enjoyed it. I don't feel resentment against these playtesters. Why would I ? The simple fact of seeing what the game has become this whole time suffices me for now.

You can be jealous, you can hate them all you want, it won't change a damn thing in the end x). Those who signed for it knew from the start what "pending release date" meant, after all ^^.

 

The main points I took from the I49 demo were.

1/ The game looked pretty stable and fun, other than when travelling between systems. It is coming along nicely.
2/ Yogcast started by just goofing around, but the more they played and the more they understood what to do the more serious it got. By the end they had built their own little base and were actually quite proud of it. They were even putting decorations up. Given the way they normally approach gameplay i thought this showed how immersive the game can be
3/ I was very impressed with the variety of creatures. I understand the attacks they have are limited because they are low tier creatures, so the mind boggles at what high tier monsters will be doing
4/ The 'Boss' seemed just around the right level of difficulty for and 'end of tutorial' boss. Beatable but hard.

Not sure what they wanted to gain from the demo but I am sure most of the points they wanted covered were eventually gotten to. Given this I don't really see how anybody could call the demo anything but a success. I think people are being to egotistical if they think the developers are making a game only for them personally.

I would be surprised if we don't see a blip in the number of pre-orders due to the demo. I also am not understanding the naysayers that seem to think the Beta will somehow be delayed on this showing.
