While I agree that a run by the developers most likely would've been a bit more informative, I actually quite enjoyed the three stooges have a go at it. :D

Plus "dev-driven presentation" was during the Q&A yesterday (where the game crashed several times during planet-switching, which might be part of the reason they abstained from doing so today).

What really got me hyped was how cool those starting guns were especially when all three of them were shooting at something, the sounds and animations were just great.

There were far more irritating things in i49 than the snob"Yogs"castplaying starbound

Like the part were the little kid got the super sexy expensive keyboard even though he lost both things.

    EDIT:

And the annoying people yelling about sips in the chatbox the entire time.

honestly,i found the streaming with Yogscast boring, they play like casual and they didnt show of the potential of the game (like show the galaxy map and generated worlds, but probably was for avoid risk of crashes, like the streaming before).
i would have preferred a Q&A at the devs or see them at the finish of the play session at least, for get a ''Thank You'' and an applause from the crowd.

i still love the game,i cant wait for play it.

a question for the Devs,if they read this: you think you can still release it for 2013? bartwe say is pretty alpha right now,so this gave me some doubts :p

    as always,sorry for my english.

If enything, complete opposite of fail.

"Developer's only" let's play would be more interesting but bringing Yogscast in does 2 things
    • It's the perspective on "normal" players
    • It brings crowds (as anything Yogscast do)
I also learned that my forum name is name of game's first boss... Whoever game it to me, I WILL FIND YOU AND THANK YOU!

Players were fooling around - I hate this, so yeah, it was a fail for me.

At least now I know that I'll never watch Yogcast videos voluntarily.

This wasn't a showcase - it was a Let's Play of the very beginning levels of a pre-alpha game. No-one should have expected it to cover all the features of the game - that would be impossible to do without developer input, and is exactly what developer playthroughs are for.
This did what it was supposed to do very well - show how ordinary players might start the game and have fun. I enjoyed it. It's probably not going to satisfy many people who read this forum however as we've already seen many of the things before. I wish people would stop being so darn negative all the time. It was great to see what we did of the game and the first miniboss!

Get over yourself, not everyone who plays differently from you is abnormal or bad. And stop throwing "mentally challenged" around as in insult.

I think some of you are missing the point. The point of the Yogscast playing the game was to bring it to the attention of their fans and thus widening the Starbound fanbase. Most of the audience, I'd wager, were there for the Yogscast, not Starbound. But by watching them play, it increases the awareness for Starbound.

Their experience playing the game wasn't too misleading either. As some have mentioned before me, they had no handholding and they were given the experience that a vast majority of players will have when they first play the game. Obviously there were some things that they could have shown off, but maybe some of the features can be a pleasant surprise when they play the game.

    This.

Again, it was a marketing exercise not aimed at the current group of starbound fans. It was intended to introduce starbound to people who follow the Yogscast group.

I was reffering to exact mind condition that I have seen in yogcast's actions.
Am I insulted you? That sad. Was this post adressed to you? No.

    Couldn't agree more.

I do think it would be worthwhile to have a developer video of the basic gameplay for advertising purposes but I don't think it makes sense to criticize this video for not filling that role. For people who are going to check out a game on the recommendation of Yogscast a Yogscast LP makes perfect sense since it appeals to a bias the viewers already have. It's not as if they're the only group who will be previewing the game.
