Yeah, or maybe add a starfoundry machine bay, an easy way to access and have each starfoundry machine linked.

I was getting curious at the amounts of poor excuses every time there's an 'update on updates' since December, the time I got the game on Steam. So I decided to go back in time, look through the archives and read all the posts on the website by this community manager since at least a year...and, it's me or you guys are ALWAYS moving/sick/filling papers/attending conventions/doing anything but pushing the updates you've hyped for months? I challenge anyone to do the same exercise and not come to the same conclusion.

    ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

    "clearly"
    lol

    i'm sorry but

i have never seen such hilariously flagrant overthinking in my life

"The way he builds his comment, shows us that he desapproves the way that arguing occures." i cannot believe you are basically making an academic thesis analyzing this:

    "man

    look at my opinion

look at how much better it is than yours

    i said look"

i have a pretty strong feeling that a lot of this whole debacle (in which i still can't believe an argument sprung out over that silly little joke) has to do with your status as a non-native English speaker because i suppose an understanding of subtlety is needed to understand what i wrote (a joke)

i hate making such a huge response to this stupid thing but i have to comment on it just to clear a few things up:

just because i make a joke from one point of view of something does not mean i have to 100% believe in that philosophy, or that i 100% condemn everything in the opposite. things are not that black and white. truth is not that black and white. ideals are not that black and white. the fact that you took this dumb joke so seriously is embarrassing (or hilarious, depending on how you look at it)

They are people, they do have lives. Running a business/developing a game does consist of more than just working on the game.
And this update has only been "hyped" for three days, and Molly only said hopefully.
The amount of impatience on this forum still surprises me.

I can't believe you actually decided to take part in this.

Wait, do I have an imaginary friend? Like seriously, I am sure there was a dude that was trying to find out something from me. Oh probably I was just talking to myself.
And why would you think i wrote so much? Oh right, maybe because that strange person wanted so much to show me his intelligence superiority, his ability to detect jokes? I think he failed, why would he vanish then?

Yeah, by the way, I don't know who could laugh on such joke (you surely could do a better one), but it doesn't matter, because you surely didn't want to approve of arguing, no, you wanted to show us how silly it looks. But goddammit, I didn't see anything funny in that, why couldn't I make one single comment (Yeah FYI I've made only one comment until my imaginary friend appeared) about what I think about your idea. Yeah, you know, jokes carry some meaning, sense, ideas, points of view... So I took the "funny" part away and just told YOU (Forget about those conversations with my imaginary friend, he was silly that day) that the arguing is okay. That's f-ing it!

    Maybe you get this now.

Whenever someone makes a joke, do you just respond by looking at them stoically and telling them how stupid they would be if they were being serious? Cause I think you've missed the point of a joke. Anyway, the post was funny, but I think how seriously you've taken it is funnier.

Ok, look. We all know you think you are right and that he is stupid. You also think the guy who disagreed with you is stupid. You think the guy who disagreed with you about that guy is stupid. Let's just skip ahead a bit and assume you think everyone else, except of course you, is stupid. Terrific.

Now we have gotten to the conclusion of this nonsense and you can go ahead and continue thinking that everyone is stupid and leave us all alone to revel in our own stupidity.

Alternatively, you can continue to argue with everyone and tell them that they are stupid because you were unable to detect humor and appreciate a solid attempt to diffuse anger, angst, and aggression in the forums. The problem with that alternative is that it will never end for you because as evidenced by every reply you have gotten so far, no one agrees with you. They all appreciated the humor and don't appreciate you derailing the thread, insulting people, and just generally being a nuisance.

So take this opportunity to bow out gracefully. I am sure I can convince all of these guys to just forget the incident and let you go about your business, if you just don't respond. Sound fair?

    Works for you guys, right?

    ON TOPIC:

I'm excited to see what all this update includes. The upgrade to navigation window will be nice and I hope in the finished game will be something that can be customized and upgraded as part of the game. Going along with my earlier suggestion it would be cool if maybe when you first start out on a planet you really don't have a lot of information at all. Kind of the way it is now. Then when you land and explore your computer gathers new information like sub-biomes, principle crops, weather, etc... just as you come across it. Then maybe you can find or craft ship parts that actually allow for more detailed initial scans or the collection of more valuable information like the presence of Agaran or not. In fact, with a better navigational computer and scan of the planet it might make it possible to beam down to new locations. Like your ship only finds one place to beam down initially but as you explore the planet and update it with the terrain and such it is able to recognize other good places to safely beam you down.

No, you think that I am stupid, just because I didn't like the irony in his joke and decided to prove my point of view, which is "arguing is normal". That was it.
I don't know how to explain that to you. Ok, imagine if someone told here a funny story ( a simple story, that has a an opening, a middle part, and a funny ending) or whatever. Like, without any irony, sarcasm, mockery etc. And then I would start to search for hidden meaning there, trying to prove that person wrong. That would be silly.

But in this situation - it was an irony, that means that the joke carries sense and an idea, it reveals the "stupidity" of the situation. Tell me, why should it matter if I don't find it funny? I take the funny part away and just start to express my opinion on a serious part of it, which is - arguing is natural. What's wrong?

Maybe you just don't like that I prefer to stay on my point with no intention to just go away? I have a point, I have a time, why shouldn't I stay? Or you are all so angry because I didn't like the joke that you liked? Well, I've told you, it doesn't even matter. I also would already stop if you haven't kept answering on my messages. I am not a fun of ignoring, you know.

By the way, Hoddmimir, I'll say it again, but if I answer everybody without even changing my point of view, it doesn't mean that I think everybody is stupid. And yeah, I didn't appreciate a solid attempt to diffuse anger in the forums because it's impossible, and that's what I was trying to say with my first comment. Also, did you mean "stop"? "Diffuse" means "spread".

Except that they're hiring an entirely different (new?) team to work on the other game, and not diverting resources from Starbound to work on it.

And that has absolutely no relevancy to the statement "They have lives, you know." If you have a job, doing something, and a customer walks up and says "What the heck are you wasting your time on? That something needs to be done in these other 45 places!?" Are you going to say "You're right, I'm not going to clock out and go home to eat dinner, because I still have things I could be doing" ? Or are you going to say "Sorry, my shift is over." ?

It's a lot easier to imagine Chucklefish as nebulous entities that don't need human things, but they're people just like us. And people like us don't work 24 hours a day, and most of us enjoy NOT working 8 hour shifts 7 days a week.

@TheRoachMan you say that arguing is normal, and you prove it by arguing. Okay, that's a decent start, except that it doesn't prove that arguing is normal. It proves that you are willing to argue almost anything. If you want to prove that arguing is normal, you need to prove that there are more arguments than rational discussions. That's going to be kinda hard to do on these forums, and especially if you start looking at real life interactions. Anyway, good luck to you.

I think it would be better to let the player define the limits in his/her game. If they want to build a ridiculous tower or a gigantic ship then fine, let them, its their game. I disagree with the idea that the developers should limit the scope of the game and impose that restriction on the player. As far as the issues with customizing your own ship, I agree, it should be implemented in a practical manner. For example, to avoid the issue of falling through your ship into death, the ship modifications should be done in a "hangar mode" that functions more like a ship editor without the player character present on screen. Once the criteria for basic ship parts have been met (storage, fuel, thrusters, and all basic ship parts are placed, as well as the ship being an enclosed space with no openings to the exterior), the player can accept changes and exit this view and be placed back onto the ship.

This is not Minecraft. This is not garry's mod. This game has a plot and a story for its environments. You are not a god of creation. You are a guy with a simple tool that helps him build things without a construction crew.

Imagine if in starwars instead of the Empire having all one ship style you'd all of a sudden see a Jar Jar binks cruiser in the mix just cause someone felt like making one despite being part of that faction.
