im a dumbass I forgot I went to the unstable patch before bed so not the update.

 

I think people will not mind building houses so much once some of the additional features are in the game. I believe NPCs will add a lot to that. You won't be building a home base so much for yourself, as you will be building it for your people.

I think this is an unfortunate side effect right now of the change from a space station to a space ship. It was originally that we would all sort of have an upgradeable base already. You would not necessarily need to build anything unless you wanted to because exploration was the whole idea of the game. Then they switched to ships which are small enough that you need to build but since the planet was the only place to do it, it was frustrating when you had to move.

 

Will this include a ship data wipe?
Because I have all my metals and important work bench stuff packed up on the ship ready for a planet wipe.

 

Sorry yet again, but a sandbox is by definition something that can be molded into any shape or form of your liking. You contradict yourself there as the experience of freedom should inherently include more options for customization, rather than just the "sandbox" that you're defining.

 

plz allow us to actually add comments/log on star maps of each planet so we can take note what we have done to that planet B4 we land, or at lease allow us to see if this planet had been "flagged" by me already...

 

There is no universe anywhere where people expect for a sandbox game to mean you can have infinite control of it. Sandbox games give you more freedom to effect the world in which you are playing. They still have limits, however. If Starbound gives you the ability to mold your planet, but not your ships it is still very very much a sandbox game. The worlds you land on are like sandboxes because you can mold them into a shape of your choosing, but that parts available to you are still limited. I can not for instance change the weather. This might change in the future, sure, but the fact that I can't do that now does not invalidate the sandbox nature of the game.

 

yeah, I cant wait to be able to cruise the galaxy in what is essentially an avian star destroyer! (death stars anyone?)

 

Sooooo all in all, pretty good update? some people one page 1-5 were "fighting" I guess, but I skipped ahead to page 12-15 and people were not "fighting"

Should I go into my game world and transfer everything from my ship to a planet temporarily? Is then ext update include world wipe too? Oh dear what do I do...

You do know that you can set a planet to be your homeworld and teleport from your ship to that planet anytime, regardless of which planet you are orbiting?
If you have stuff you dont want to lose i would suggest moving them to a homeworld.
But if you dont want to do that, you can just check the forum b4 logging into SB to see if they have a wipe update and go offline to secure your stuff b4 the update.

This is pretty much all I see lately.

 

Also for those worried about the ships being wiped, more than likely it will ether integrate with your current ship (meaning nothing will be messed up unless you choose to "upgrade" your ship, if you have a custom one.)

And vanilla ships it might just continue off from there, or you may just have to delete your shipworld file to get it to work. After taking all your things off first of course.

Dude, people argue, it's natural. Sometimes not so peaceful, with wars and millions of dead men who didn't want to accept opinion of another side. Maybe not a good example, but wars have been a part of whole human history.
But here we have adequate people with proper arguments showing their own view on things while suggesting or criticizing things. What's the problem in that? Or you want everyone to have the same opinion?

I'm not trying to flame, hate or start a fight here. But it's been 3 days since you said there would be a patch. Now i understand you guys are having a rough time with communication and what not. But this hasn't been the first time since things are delayed and its quite distracting when you're all pumped for a patch, always checking if its online. Anyway maybe think these things through before telling us? Give yourselves a bit more time before you announce these things? I am actually gladly surprised no one has been rude about it, thumbs up for the community . Just my two cents and keep up the good work, I bet the game is going to be amazing when you release it.
