    In order to address the debate of premade ships vs. customizable ships, perhaps we could get procedurally generated ships? Say you are Hylotl, maybe your ship will have different shaped fins. Maybe Floran could have different patterns of overgrowth or even different ships (or pieces of different ships) as a base (it would be nice to have something non-Apex and a ship of say some undiscovered NPC race, at least it would be unique). Wouldn't need to be too extreme, maybe just a few minor cosmetic variations for each race. This would continue on as you upgrade your ship (and maybe several different floor plans would be available at each tier). Maybe you'd get the option to make adjustments to your ship as well so that if you didn't like one of the procedurally generated parts you could swap it out for something you like.

    Also the navigation menu is nice but since it is wider the "Set Home" and "Go Home" buttons are WAY too long. Perhaps split them in half and make the right halves "Set Favorite" and "List Favorites". There is a lot of blank space on the planet info section towards the bottom as well. This would be a perfect place to place notes! Add a button that allows players to input a string that would be stored in the world file and then this string would be displayed here. I made a mockup of what I'm proposing below:

    Maybe to remedy some of the other blank real estate add a "Z" coordinate to the navigation menu (it was seen in early screenshots) or allow coordinates to be longer so that they take up a bit more space. This would require some tweaks to the procedural generation system. The "Find Random" button is HUGE. I'm not sure what can be done here to fix this though. Perhaps instead split this button as well and have "Find Random" and "Find Nearest" which locates the nearest system? How useful would that even be?

    Someone earlier suggested that some of the info should be unknown until you hit a certain tier unless you beam down to the planet as this would signifying your sensors upgrading as you progress. I wanted to further develop this idea and propose the following.

    Tier 0 (broken ship) = Biome unlocked
    Tier 1 = Size and Day Length unlocked
    Tier 2 = Gravity and Weather unlocked
    Tier 3 = Sub-Biome unlocked
    Tier 4 = Hazards unlocked

    Anything that hasn't been unlocked would have "?????" as its description. Beaming down to a planet will automatically reveal all info about that planet, even if your sensors aren't upgraded to that point. I feel this would be an excellent addition to the game and would make the early stages really feel about exploration and the unknown. An explorer knowing everything about a planet without visiting it seems silly. Sure if they had technology it makes some sense, but the player doesn't start in that situation and this would make it so you gradually get there.

    I am glad to know that many features we have long wanted are near. This however is something I have been expecting, as someone with some background in software development I understand how it can work, nothing seems to happen until it happens, and then everything happens at once and you don't even know how so many parts of the project have come along so well.

    However I feel that while this is foreshadowing our first big content update in a while, I must congratulate you on the progress you have made beyond content, let us not forget all the work you did so these small updates could happen, so that character wipes will be less frequent, and so that world wipes only happen when you change something big. You have done great at improving the back bone of the game. What we see, what we hear, what we interact with is only a small part of what makes a game. What makes a game is the engine. The miles and miles of code that make it all matter. So once again, thank you for your hard work in this project and I am glad to know you are starting to near the point we the players, and you the developers have been craving: the content, the features, and the mechanics of the game itself. This might be the first fair bit of content to come in a while, but it is not the only big update we have seen lately. Not at all. Let us not lose sight of the work done to the code.

    Beyond that I must look at the ship, I personally hate that layout. It is horrible. I could see the appeal to avoid a long narrow design, but it looks like a flying block of rooms behind a cockpit. I want to be able to plan my ship layout somewhat, I want to be able to have a bridge above the ship or a cockpit at the front, maybe a central command room. The current ship system as I see it does not appeal to me as it seems to be just extra rooms, and as the game stands, you don't need so much space.

    The new nav system, I like it. I can't see a way to make it much better.

    The big "foreboding" ship is hilarious to me because the captain's seat is in the middle of a big room with the control panel at the far front!! :lickitung: new emotes yay :kitten2: anyway, I hope a bit more fine-tuning goes on with those ships. But if it doesn't, it's just more laughs for me in the end! :metroid:

    The sense I'm getting here (and agree with) is players want to have a way to make their ship special and unique beyond what you put inside of it. Something like, fully customizable ships or just having a choice in ship you use besides just the size. The collector in me would love to be able to find rare ship blueprints or a way to unlock different ships. Its telling that there are a TON of mods with different takes on custom ships.

    I glad for the update but it kind of seems like all the ships are like different sized carbon copies. Although if it comes to push and shove, I would rather see game content over cosmetic content. But if we could have both ... X3

    I think it was intended, if you look at stuff like star trek and such, you'll see that the captain is sat in the center of the command room, and the crew do the rest.

    Liking the new GUI, quite snazzy! In regards to the new ship(s), I hope one of the upgrades includes some elegant looking hydroponics blocks. If not, perhaps in a future future update.

    Very looking forward to expanding my ship. With all the containers and work stations in every nook and cranny, I've been feeling claustrophobic. I just haven't found a planet, moon, or asteroid that I want to call home yet.

    Things are really looking bright in the future! I don't know if I'll try out the upgradable ships or stick with my current custom one.... Eh I'll defiantly check them out.

    Also cannot wait for multiple character starter back-stories, like you play ether as a rogue apex or miniknog solider. Also maybe a violent instead of peaceful hylotl, tribal or civilized floran, etc.

    Also them planet features... That will probably my most favourite feature of all. No more waiting to see if a planet I end up loving suddenly starts raining acid or meteors.

    Isn't that what legendaries are for? Yet maybe gigantic passive herbivores would be nice. (elephant-like beasts, etc.)

    Ideally the additional ship sections should have their location optional so you can go all Connectibles on it and build it to your preferred shape.
