Botht yes and no. Since the release has been announced and there is (as someone stated above) a solution, then just roll with it. Steam has even allowed people to "preload" a game before (downloading most of the files, but you still need to download the last files and verify before you can play).

    Well, I'm home sick anyhow, so I won't have a problem :<

There aren't that many keys that are being distributed. I don't know how many, but at a guess 250-500k? That'll send out fine from Humble, and arrive absolutely no problem at the Steam end. Which is used to handling like 1 to 5 million at one time.

The only issue I could see is that the dedicated servers for hosting multiplayer won't handle the stress. But in a game where you can host your own server, direct connect by TCP/IP, LAN. Or just play single player I'm assuming this wont be a problem for the majority of us.

I should note, I have no issue waiting a bit for a key, although I will be a little annoyed if my key gets lost in the post for an hour (I have had e-mails take longer to arrive, password reset and the like, stuff that I know had been sent already).

The point of the post was to warn the devs to expect a flood of intitled people coming to the forums when the game comes out and they don't already have their keys (as they was sent at the same time, but probably haven't been received yet). This is the internet we are talking about, we might not have an sympathy for people that can't wait, but the second they start flooding the forum they become a nuisance to everyone, especially the devs.

Ego, if they want to save themselves a headache, send the keys out a little earlier.

Humblebundle is sending out the keys, not the Starbound devs. Humblebundle can handle 100k keys/emails at a time, at least, they have thus far. There are always going to be people that complain about something to the devs, they know this and will expect it. They will work to make everyone as happy as possible.

Would be nice if they released the keys in sessions so that steam isn't flooded with huge amount of downloads from users as soon as they get the key.

That said, can they do that? I mean ask them to start sending them in waves slightly ahead of time? I don't know if humble or steam would bother with that sort of request having never directly dealt with them. It would be nice if we could start downloading in advance though, seeing as two gigabytes will take awhile on this connection.

I understand that is an issue on my end before anyone gripes, but I'm saying others might not.. like the op is suggesting.

That should not be a problem either.
Steam is selling pre-orders for years now, and people start downloading hundredthousands of gigabyte on release days of major AAA titles.

Valve has quite alot of content servers all around the world to distribute the load without huge problems.

It'll probably be faster to just buy it via steam once it hits the early access.

Humble is taking care of sending out keys. I'm sure they can handle it.

If something is gonna go wrong, aka delayed emails, i'm gonna come and spread shit like never before. Doing crucial things all the same second and hoping that everything will go well ... it's naive and irresponsable. We'll see.

I remember someone stating yesterday that just checking our humble page is faster than waiting for an email, so I'll do that. Problem solved.
