    Greetings,

Oh I love to die in a game. As a tester, I want to die in every possible way. I heal people all day so at night I go for destruction.

The idea is to die with a low pixel count. (keep your money as ore bars). You lose nothing on death, except those pixels.

Oh, I have seen the Pixel compressor, but a 40% fee to compress ? That's just LOANSHARKING,..

I love to die after long dig, because I get no penalty. I keep all the Ore.

I would suggest, after you die, you lose half of whatever ore you collected with that life. This would encourage survival skills and tools to get you back to the surface.

    Have Fun ! (tm)

2/10, didn't even try. Besides, they are adding difficulty modes. One of them which causes you to drop all of your items upon death.

The pixel compressor is a joke. I laughed out load when I saw that you lose 40% of the pixels you compress.

Makes sense to me, you lose 51% of your pixels just by dying twice in a row.

Well yeah but by tier 3 (which I believe is when you can craft the compressor) you already have access to the refinery, and by then gold/ silver/platinum are really easy to find. It's so much easier to just hoard ore and refine it as needed, especially once you start seeing diamonds all over the place in later tiers.

In the games current state it's pretty easy just go straight to a desert planet every time you need to harvest some ore for the current set of armor. I'm sure they'll nerf the amount of surface ore at some point, but for now the compressor's pretty worthless imo.

Changes to death penalty aren't going to make any kind of actual change to this behavior.

People would just quit to main menu and log back in to travel to ship. People did it all the time in Terraria, people do it here, more people will do it here if dying becomes an issue.

It's easy to balk at the idea of severe death penalties; but at the same time, if you really sit down and think about it - or maybe try it out, playing a dangerous game, infinitely more memorable.

Some of my fondest gaming memories are from games where death MEANS something, (Namely Diablo 2: Hardcore, and Minecraft: Better than wolves), fighting tooth and nail to survive, playing with friends, knowing that if any one of you dies, that's the end of their story. It has a way of etching every moment into your mind somehow. A robust death penalty is like salt or vinegar, on it's own it's a bitter proposition, but used properly it leads to giving the game a much richer flavour.

I suspect it's because every one of us has our own narrative of events, but death without a penalty breaks narrative.

I ALWAYS play on perma-death in games, makes it way better, people say "Noooo it's too hard I don't wanna lose all my stuff" my response; then your not understanding the point of a survival game.

    It depends on playstyle.

Perma-death is only fair if the game is fair.

IMO its more fun when you don't have to start over every time depending on the game. Just imagine perma-death on COD.

I would absolutely love perma death on CoD (some gamemodes have that btw), that would teach those "Run and gun" people.
