I just realized there's no critical hit system in this game.

I have to disagree, as long as it's not RNG based.
That's the main reason I enjoy the Borderlands franchise, as critical hits are just another term for a headshot.

    I never sleep.

Good point. Hadn't thought of that.

    Meh...I dunno.

Not in my videogames, which I control and play to escape the realities of life. Lucky one shots are never fun, especially when it's against an AI like Starbound's.

They said they wanted to implement a super damage attack after a successful block was done with a shield. I wouldn't mind a small window where if they blocked I could do extra damage.

Hopefully they will add damage range, critical, RNG, etc when everything becomes more balanced/stable and settles down a bit.

By crits i'm speaking of random crits, not headshots.
    I just call them headshots

I think there used to be, iirc

Headshot crits are something you'd see in the Borderlands games.
    By the way, what is RNG? Range? If it is, I answered my own question ^^;

Oh, a parry system would be awesome, I hope we get to test that soon.

I cry tears of toxic waste.

    Are they delicious now?

Yeah, Melee weapons need three things. Crit's, Combo's and damage ranges. Get them down and melee combat will be much more enjoyable.

Plus, i find that fighting other "humanoid" enemies is more fun than fighting the wildlife. Maybe because you don't get murdered in a few hits by some half pint... thing and his buddies.

Bigger monsters i can understand more though. Enemies in general need damage ranges too, i think.

    Random Number Generator.

...Should i be a evil bastard? Yeah, i should be a evil bastard.

I don't. Critical hits are stated as oneof the perks of shields on the wiki, with that after a Block you can Parry for a guaranteed crit. Shields need some love.

Bare in mind, i don't mean something Cuhrayzee. Something simple, like a one two punch. I don't want to see a combo count every time i do more than one attack on something. Simplicity is best.

Exactly. I don't want attacks to be the same animation over and over, it should look smooth.

I kinda like the fact there is no crits, at least I know what damage im going to be doing to an enemy.

I agree, and maybe some more random 60's Batman style captions for good measure!

Shields need some love, no doubt about it, but I feel it shouldn't be in the form of crit hits. Parry is a great idea, but maybe at just an increased damage, not something as ridiculous as a crit hit. Sounds way too easily abusable.

People who like crits typically arent very good at video games. Learning to do well is intimidating, but making your character do well and feeling like you did well vicariously is much easier.

Generally speaking, the crowd here wants to be rewarded for a job well done, not a dice well rolled.
