I just lost my platinum pickaxe

I had it on hotbar slot 1. Swapped to hotbar 7 to place a tent, and after placing the tent, the pickaxe was gone. I have no idea what might have happened. It's not anywhere in my inventory, and I didn't throw it out either. Guess I'll have to build a new one now...

 

could you have accidentally hit Q?

 

I once had a sword in my inventory inexplicably disappear. I must have accidentally hit Q. Fortunately, it was just one sword which could easily be replaced by stronger swords, but I shutter to imagine if it had been my diamond pickaxe.

The keybinding update can't come soon enough.

 

I remember one time I had a full inventory and I had chests everywhere in my ship, so deciding to break down one of the wooden doors I had placed, I accidentally break two chests, all the items disappearing after about 15 seconds.
Didn't have enough time to say goodbye to my statue..

 

I would bet that's what happened. I've done exactly the same thing, when trying to switch back to slot 1, many times.

 

Another victim to the Q key. Damn, traitorous fingers.

 

Shouldn't I have seen the axe fly around and land somewhere in front of me? I was facing a wall at the time, so it wouldn't have been flung very far, and I didn't see anything.

 

Don't worry you can get by with gold pick axe until you unlock drills.

 

It's incredibly easy to miss seeing that happen, I've lost countless weapons and tools because of this. Also, it may have occured that the axe was thrown into the wall itself and thus unretrievable unless you had a backup which could minequickly enough through the rock and dirt, or whatever the wall was made of.

 

Between Q and fast item despawn i had lost two pickaxes, two weapons, diamond drill and stack of bandages. Item drop button shouldn't be anywhere near WASD by default.

 

check the L/R in the centre, they can be hard to see whats slotted in there without choosing them first. I rarely have items shuffle around up there, and its usually in one of these spots that I find them after a panic attack.

 

I lost my first metalwork station this way, lol. I was on the ship and broke it, thought I picked it up, went and crafted some other stuff. When I went to place it back down, it was gone. I looked for it for forever before accepting that I must not have picked it up and it despawned. I spazzed out, thinking I couldn't ever get it back or get another one. Then I finally realized I could just summon another penguin boss.

I also think the despawn time is a bit short, personally.

 

Q is probably the single most likely to be accidentally hit key in the entire layout, being directly next to both movement and hotkeys.

 

Is there actually a way to reassign keys yet? I'd love to make Q the inventory key.

 

Not at this time, unfortunately.

 

Heh this reason in Minecraft is why I don't use hotkeys to select items. I just scroll. >_>

 

Sure it feelt hard then but if you are lucky you find platinum real fast

 

Mining ore directly above lava, Q key decides it's time my Platinum Drill took a hot bath.

 

I don't think lava actually destroys items.

And you can survive a dip in it besides, especially with good armor.

 

Anyone else attack a passive mob to find out you can't one shot it AND it was in fact 5 standing on one spot only to be knocked into lava (pre melting update) to then respond to quickly pressing all your keys and throw half of them with Q? I've lost a gun, shield, drill (only copper), and a green flashlight all at once. Also I died and lost pixels.
