I honestly believe Starbound was... A failure, to say the least?

I can't believe I missed this gem of a thread.

 

Came here to post this. These forums are full of apologists/fanboys so you have to take what they're saying with a grain of salt.

I agree with OP though. This game is definitely not living up to expectations thusfar. I hope a ton will change/be added to the game, but for now the game isn't particularly fun. Nothing that terraria hasn't done, anyways.

 

And babies are useless little fat balls of meat that will obviously never amount to anything smarter than a dog.
Oh wait. They grow up and become adult humans.

So maybe instead of judging the game as a baby you should remember what it will become.

 

Let's think back to the very first public build of minecraft. Now let's look at it today. They're not even remotely close.

The point of a beta is to offer constructive criticism. The devs have made it explicitly clear that this is an extremely early stage of the game and it's going to be changing. Yeah, if was RELEASED in this buggy and incomplete state, we'd have a problem. But since we all paid for beta access, and we were all given very clear warnings regarding how unfinished the game is at the moment, I don't see a problem. I'm sure the debs will continue working on the game and making it into the best it can be- right now it's mostly just a rough framework for what there will be.

 

Except that his title indicates that feedback "was" not his intent.

Are you really that dense? I just told you that the game, AS A BETA, is not very good, and that I hope tons of stuff will be added/changed to make it better.

Please stop being a hostile child and see things straight. Fanboyism to the extreme always hurts a company's ability to develop a game.

You also contradict yourself by agreeing with the op in the same post.

Sorry if I am a fanboy for actually being able to understand the concept of beta, unimplemented features and how games work in general.

 

Calling a game a failure while it's in BETA is utterly ignorant. Any critique should be constructive, your critique seems to be extremely destructive.

So do you agree with the op that the game is a piece of shit or do you think it can be improved? You are missing that these are different things. The op thinks the game is entirely crap and will not change.


Hmm. Never knew liking the game even with the bugs because I understand its beta and will just get better makes me a fanboy. Thought it just meant I wasn't a idiot.

Thread closed. I don't mind criticism of the game (I've even given a bit myself), but the responses were pretty much the same thing for 8 pages. There are plenty of real discussions going on all over the forums if you want to contribute to something worthwhile.
