I died against the Robot, and now I have to rebuild it again... don't I?

  2. Yes, you will have to build it again.

It is the worst feeling in the world.

Next time look up how to cheese it/how to fight it. It is sooo hard unless you can manage to trap the robot.

I've had my first robot fall down a hole and despawn. It was a very deep hole. Needless to say, I was pissed. Shit happen. Make a new one and beat the crap out of him in anger.

I thought I could out smart it by putting walls around it, it began flying and 1 shot me. Our second meeting ended with him taking 30 bombs to the face!

Having to craft the boss summon items is a bad idea. I think it should work similar to Terraria (Randomly spawn after you meet certain prerequisites), or you have to find a certain planet with a certain something on it (Like a rare-ish randomly generated boss summon item). But if the only option is to spend a while mining and grinding pixels, then it doesn't really make it worth the risk to fight the bosses without using trapping techniques, which kinda sucks imo.

I do agree that the price for the robot is too high and its not a monster that can fly nor break blocks. I think if it spawned on a planet it should either stay where it was last sighted or roam the planet's surface/randomly reappear until killed once crafted and activated. It not a boss that can actually fly or do space travel.

I do like how terraria does it and I do think it would be more fun if you spawn a boss on a world, if it gets away it has a chance to spawn again in the wild until defeated.

I had decent armour and kept busting moves by jumping over the top of it's head. Then I used the height of adjacent hills and energy dash and it was relatively simple. Don't do the boss too soon and of course, make sure you have a ton of bandages. Oh, nades/bombs help, especially the special poison or electric ones - very helpful.

The first time I fought the robot, I was still in the Alpha sector. Collect some decent weapons from mini bosses and get some laser rifles too. Personally I like a weapon with burning status which I use to hit it a few times, then I run away and then start shooting it with a laser rifle from a distance. It'll come after me and then I hit it with my status weapon again, run away and heal, then pull out my rifle again.

too bad that the robot is one of the most expensive things to build :D
try to encase it in dirt next time, always worked for me lulz
(i think its a little overpowered to beat it 'normally')

The times I have beaten the robot, I did fine with merely shielding against all its moves, and whacking it in between (with bandages near to hand in case I messed up and swung when I should shield)

I actually made a small hole for ME, not the robot. This was before I realized that you could just build a really big cage and shrink it from the outside...

I disagree. A much simpler solution would be to stop the thing from despawning at inappropriate times.

Anybody saying you have to cheese the robot (or any of the bosses) in order to win is giving up to easily.

^ true, but that really only applies to the robot because it cant fly. I tried not cheesing the Dragon... bad idea.

As for the crafting of bosses it does seem like just crafting a click-to-spawn is a bad idea. Having them act similarly to an NPC spawner where the boss will spawn somewhere near (but not right next to) the item when you next beam down might be a good direction.

The dragon is the easiest boss. Sure it hits hard but. . .

You stand still. That's it. Just stand still and shoot it. You need do nothing else. That's the entire strategy. If you want to get FANCY you can bring a shield and block its swoops. Or you can just pop a stim/couple bandages/burger after it swoops as it swoops rarely.

I guess i just get unlucky with the fire then... every time it fired at me the fire overflowed to where i was, and I was standing right under it.

How I do it (with a robot):

Build a square cage around myself on the surface, with a hole in the top.
Place the robot on top of this square.
    Activate robot.
Build ANOTHER dirt square around robot after he is arggo'd to me, but cannot hit me (due to my own square).
    NOBODY IS GOING ANYWHERE.

Alternative; get a shield. Any shield. Shields block so much damage that it should be pretty easy to defeat the robot with a melee weapon, shield, and bandages.

I activated the robot without any knowledge of how to fight it. Had Energy Dash as my only tech, and I used it to keep a distance while shooting arrows at it (had no gun). Then I just got bored after all this dodging crap and just kept backing up while it chased and swung my melee weapon at it. It was a crafted weapon, nothing special. It was actually easier than any other fight for me, and I didn't build any obstacle course or anything. Generally I always start boss fights on flat terrain is all I require. I died way more on the dragon because I tried being all about melee (still had no gun at that point).

Crafted food with the big regen is what worked for me. Screw those bandaids. I liked it when I used to EAT them.

EDIT: If you want a challenge, fight it head on!

I beat the robot without firing a single shot.

Step 1: 3D Print 10-1000 turrets (Cost 1 pixel per turret, obviously a bug)
Step 2: Create arena using platforms and place turrets on platforms
Step 3: Dig hole leading to bunker under arena.
Step 4: Summon robot, dive into bunker and wait.

    Fight lasted about 2 minutes.
Might be less fun than fighting it yourself, but its much more fun than re-gathering resources to build another robot if you die.
