Woah folks, we're playing an actual beta which is constantly changing and being re-balanced!

    TWO YEAR OLD DEVS!!!

I edited the post to include why I liked the new AI, but you saw it before I got there :)

They were just something you ignored before. The only way to aggro them was to Pulse Jump to them, and even then, they wouldn't follow you all the way back down, and forced you to kill them with ranged. They were usually too far away to even hit with their attacks. They wandered off again almost immediately.

Now, they aggro. They come all the way to you, allowing you to melee. They are very aggressive and will chase you a long way. I have to pay attention to them instead of ignoring them. I actually have to dodge their attacks.

I am not saying they are perfect, just that I like the new AI a lot more than the old AI.

No that is not. Elaborate and/or bring suggestions to the table. All you are doing is giving feedback that does not completely aid Chucklefish into creating a better game.

Let them, people will stop wasting their time testing the game. Did you SEE the outrage over one SINGLE wipe?

I wasn't even mad at that, wipes are expected. Changing weapon and armor values in a way that makes no sense AT ALL? Not so much.

Ok, here is a suggestion. Revert the patch entirely. It sucks.

Looks like you're in luck. All (or most) of the problems you stated have been addressed yesterday and are already planned to be fixed in the next patch. Your thread arrived a tad too late to be useful as constructive criticism, but hey, you tried.

Upcoming patch list is incomplete, just in case you have some other problems with the current patch.

Edit: Oh, and would you look at that, they plan on implementing backpack lanterns.

Hey guys, let me bitch at beta patch because i suck at such a 'casual' game and then reprehend all the madmen behind it. Shut up, Liracy. I really hope a dev doesn't see this thread, i think my IQ has already dropped from reading every single one of your posts.

Try reading my post where I pointed out that the values are bugged because the weapon change didn't go as planned.

That's called a "bug" which you said you didn't mind, compared to something being 'intended' like you think it was.

Big difference in altering files that someone else made and making your own. Some modders are very talented, no doubt, but its not at all the same.

You realize the point of a beta is to try different things, see what works and what doesn't, tweak them, etc?

No, of course not. Rage on.

Liracy, I mean this in the absolute nicest, most honest way possible. I think you should stop playing the beta for a while.

I'm not trying to be angry, or to attempt to "kick you out". And your points are, in many cases, valid. Everything you've complained about is stuff that the forum agrees needs work, and will be addressed in the coming weeks and months.

It's just...You don't sound like you're having fun. You're getting very upset that the game isn't playable yet, and that changes are taking too long. And you know what? That's perfectly valid! You paid for a game, you should enjoy it! That is your absolute right.

The problem is, the game just isn't ready yet. We can't give you all the changes that you need to enjoy the game. And you aren't enjoying it. While we would love to have your feedback and opinions on the game, if you aren't enjoying the content, I would encourage you to take a break from the game for a few weeks and come back with fresh expectations.

Please don't take this as an attack, or as me trying to get rid of you. I ask you, as someone who wants you to enjoy your time with Starbound, to let it rest for a little bit until it's more playable. If you waited all this time for the beta, I know you can be patient for a little while longer, and if you need to wait until second or third stage beta to get the most out of Starbound, then please, please do so.

Whoa... seriously? A two year old could understand this system. Huh... the irony.

While you're at it, too, go ahead and take some anger management classes. It feels like the rage inside you blocks out any rational thoughts, and all you spout out is garbage. I think it's time for you to recuperate, play some WoW, or maybe Runescape! I'm pretty sure the community would like you better.

Dear OP, welcome to the wild world of game development.
One of the things that goes on in the early 'sausage making' stages of development that most gamers never get to see is a lot of experimentation with the game mechanics and balance. If you don't like the idea that things could change greatly from day to day or that some builds might be flat out unplayable, you should probably hold off till a later stage of development.

Or you could learn to frame your 'constructive' criticism in a way that wasn't insulting.
"I don't like the changes you made and preferred the old system." - ok
"I think your devs are morons for the changes they made! REVERT NAOW!" - not ok

Whoa, so much sensibility. Fair, let me respond in kind. The reason I am so "angry" is simple. The game was fantastic before this patch. 40+ hours into it with no regrets. Sure, characters got wiped? That was fine. Totally expect characters to get wiped. What I don't expect is for them to add a whole bunch of content that makes the game tedious. Did bird AI need to be tweaked? Nope. Why is it annoying? Because it is killing what I did enjoy.

Did the ore values need to be tweaked? Yes. <<< This is a sensible change. I don't expect the devs to get this perfect.

Did weapon damages need a nerf? Sure. Did the Devs even come close with the values? No. They made them terrible.

I won't continue to much, only to say, you had a fun game. I got a friend to buy the game, he HATES the game, and frankly, had I not played what was before this patch, i'd be wishing for a refund myself.

Aaaand this sort of bitching is why using a bug tracking system > a user forum. Less noise, more signal.

Maybe you should read the post where I pointed out where most if not all of the problems you have are caused by bugs, rather than being 'intended changes' like you think they are.

But you'd apparently rather just talk to
    a) people who rage
    b) someone who'd rather coddle you than discuss things

    Felonious Existential Complex

The point of this patch was to be the first step toward building a system that was easier to balance in the LONG RUN. When it was first launched, things were immensely overpowerd. Now there's a lot that's underpowered. It's necessary to playtest to see where the balance lies.

As for the ore issue, that is because the current ore system has been overcharged. Tiy said this would change, even as far back as the update itself. The birds are overdone, but they're testing a new combat system as well as a new AI, so it's to be expected they'd be leaning too far in one direction or the other.

You act as though you don't expect future changes.

Your picture is awesome, and you're probably right, but I am not so sure these are "bugs" the bird AI was not just random chance the devs made it that was on purpose. People HATE it and now they're changing it back-ish. The question is, why even TRY that direction? Its awful.

lol Im with OP on the block thing, very odd indeed we are 4 blocks high but can only dig the 3 blocks? You then need to stand there in the same spot to dig more to move on odd just saying lol
