I have dreams where mensaia9000 types don't rule every community that I care about ;p

People attacking the op simply lack the foresight to understand why it matters to have more functional server tools. Being staff on a dedicated server with constant traffic is a nightmare without the proper tools. It's a nightmare for the nonstaff to deal with anarchists ruling the entire universe. The fact this game doesn't require a global account and you can just make X characters means it's really difficult to actually ban someone even with tools. Not being able to protect terrain means everything just gets destroyed, so I can't do anything about that. We can't prevent hacked or modded items on our server, so strike 3 right there. Can't prevent insanely long names, 4. List goes on. I'm sure the game (I hope, at least) will eventually have proper tools in place but a lot of games with multiplayer never do get what hosts need to manage them. Modders end up having to do it and I find that extremely lazy. If a game has multiplayer, it should be developed well and supported by the devs. Not slapped on and then assumed to be left up to annonymous modders to fix.

Starrybound was the only hope my server had at being run well. Its devs are a-holes for what they did but in sight of a lack of options, we needed it.

A few popular sandbox games with 'supported' multiplayer that lack tools:

    Terraria, Minecraft, Starbound

Mod devs had to come along and make them.

We are not in late beta, also I doubt they don't know that multilayer is far from complete. So this thread is kind of pointless.

There you go, same thing again, like a broken record.

Say, I know why this thread is becoming pointless, and you're having a really big hand in it.

We both have are points and are both saying the same over and over in different ways. Sure why not believe what you like.

    You seriously just..?!

Bringing an issue to light and giving the people the means to make that problem worse are two very different things. This was not cool dude...at all

    Hey billy...
I agree we need better server tools, and I won't tell you to "wait because it's beta"
you're right to ask for whatever you want in game! that's the purpose of beta; to tell devs what's right, and what's wrong and needs fix

but pleeeease... don't say devs are placing singleplayer above multiplayer because the patch fixes something but doesn't add server tools
think about this: SP and MP aren't 2 seperate programs, they are the same starbound
devs aren't fixing problems in singleplayer, they are fixing problems in starbound, which benefits both SP and MP :lolwut:

if the patch broke something about server and it wasn't fixed in the hotfix they released 10 minutes after, it's not a whole conspiracy against people who like to play on servers :V
hotfixes are made to quickly fix something here and there, not to solve all the problems, like major patches
whatever it is that is broken on servers, it will be fixed, maybe in a future patch, maybe in a nother hotfix soon, just keep telling devs what's wrong and eventually it'll be fixed :giggle:

but no more weird theories about priorizing SP over MP k?
I'm sure what's being prioritized isn't SP, but implementing core mechanics, adding features and fixing major bugs so both SP and MP works better ;)

No, it will show how important it is for the devs to fix this issue.

They are forced to take action now or soon, or they will not be able to provide a proper multiplayer experience at all.

From fire comes growth iv been sitting on this simple exploit for quite some time :) its about time it gets fixed. as its causing issues for many servers

if i wanted to cause destruction id just wipe everything out for few weeks

I didn't see that coming.... At first I thought you were a ranting idiot, but new respect has been found :O
I think its good and bad as now the devs will hear of it and push to fix it faster, but until then, servers will be plagued with crashes

I never stated SP gets prioritized over MP. I stated that MP is getting less attention than it deserves. And that's not even the main concern of this post.

You are vastly overestimating the amount of the community that plays multiplayer at all, let alone "thrives" off it.

    Core functionalities>core multiplayer functionalities.

So did you send the issue directly to a dev or forum moderator? No, you posted it in general and basically implore people to use it.

This is no different to script trolls who ruin servers under the guise of helping via protest.

I would ask that you follow the proper channels rather than making problems worse.

At least we'll be freed from this plague very soon then, I'd rather have a very short period with a lot of crashing, than a long period of unknown crashes everywhere on all servers.

You are vastly underestimating the importance of the exploit that just got uncovered, perhaps read the whole discussion this time :)

Chances are the devs already know and are working on it. Even if they didn't, telling them your findings is far more practical than stoking the fire

WWOWOOOAAAAHH, THINGS ARE BROKEN IN A BETA? WHAT THE FUCK, CHUCKLEFISH DISBAND PLZZZZZZZZ.

Seriously this thread does nothing, there are many other threads about this and they are not being ignored, I promise you that the devs are either working on fixing it, planning on fixing it soon, or running with the money.

It's not like they just put out a major update, I mean I know they're robots programmed only to make this game not humans or anything, but we have to give them some break.

And it's not like they also put out a hotfix to fix other issues earlier today.

Nah, durn lazy devs with their not doing everything I want right now and their unfinished beta game.

They didnt know about it infact there last patch made it a whole lot worse the only one smart enough to figure it was doomlord as i tested it on his server once :) but since you lot where far to busy shafting him up the arse i doubt he felt the need to post about it ;p

You are yet another idiot that doesn't get the problem. Read the whole discussion, you'll see :)

It comes down to the fact that people need 3 lines of code to trash any server they want, picture the rest for yourself.
