I dont think this game will make a 2012 release.

Good point. But I think there's a lot to be learned from watching Phil Fish's story, and how many hours of tweaking minute details, and his dedication and determination despite hordes of critics bashing him for taking four years to make the game. I mean, it couldn't hurt, right? ;)

If it was just two weeks, that wouldn't be a problem for even these impatient 13 year olds you're condescending to.
However, if they decide that it is going to take until Summer 2013 to get it perfect, I would feel a bit "led on", if you will. I really wish they would give themselves a deadline or feature goal, since that would give them something solid to work toward, even if it was mid 2013. I know if I was working on a project that didn't have a deadline, just the amorphous "when it's done", I would have a hard time sewing up the loose ends. (I know this was the case when I was in college). It is entirely possible (probable?) that they have an internal deadline that they haven't told us, and maybe they are more mature than I am.

Until then we have a bunch of other games to bum around with.

I think he was mistaking that the annoying CoD 13 year olds are also the same 13 year olds that would be interested in this kind of game.

Yeah, unfortunately they don't seem to improve much with age either.
I'm kind of worried that that's how people are starting to stereotype hardcore gamers when they couldn't be more wrong.

Ill ask you this, whats unique about this game and what attracted you to it? Was it the 2d old school graphics? or was it the as real as possible physics for its format, or its unique game style, or the fact that its devs have put as much detail into it to enhance immersion as much as possible. For me its all of the above! You wanna talk about understanding your dev team... well i think your way off base buddy, as far as i can tell they want to put as much detail and interesting things into this game as they can. Much of what these great guys and gals are doing is based on community feedback, and for your information forums are usually the blue print for a fan base. fan boys like us maybe the extreme when it comes to the fan base of a game but generally it still follows suite, just to a lesser degree.

And just cause it bugs me, your attitude that a game should be shoved into a box and shipped out and then finished after release is ABHORRENT. Im almost certain that NO ONE wants that in this forum unless you are one of the whinny little tards that are complaining that the game isnt going to be done when they said it might possibly be complete but was never guaranteed. the latter is far out numbered though. Heck even the devs think releasing an unfinished product is abhorrent, Tiy would never do that to us!!!!

One of the many charms of this game is its attention to detail, trying to say we dont want details is blasphemous and i believe if you want this game released with out being done to the expectations of the devs and its fan base then this isnt the game for you buddy, go play one of your rushed mainstream games for 60 bucks and be disappointed that it takes 5 patches for it to feel complete and then they drop the project.

I think you are misunderstanding him. He is saying that most people in the world fit that description, but he does not, and those of us on the forum (for the most part) are not either. He was saying that all the people who do not participate in this forum don't know the story of the development of this game, and because of that they won't care about the detail, maybe even won't notice it at all! Also, he never said anything about shipping it off as fast as possible.

Edit: Here's one of his other posts you should look at.
He's talking about the players outside these forums, as he said, those who don't know the developers' story. He's saying that lots of people would get POed for a push back on the release date (take the Phil Fish "Fez pushed back for three years" story for example), even though we on the forum who know reasons and are completely in tune with the development process, and know what it takes to make a game would be understanding. Unfortunately though, we here on the forum are but a small percentage (I'd guess maybe 5-10%) of the eventual playerbase, and unfortunately many people who are not part of the forum fit the "impatient idiot" label.

Man if we're talking about the eventual player base I hope we make up an even smaller portion, cuz that means Starbound will have sold more!

well, I don't actually know how many members the forum has, so those numbers are entirely made up :p just wanted to make the point that we'd be a small percent.

As of this post, the forum has 9435 members. The real question is how many of those are active?

Judging from what I've seen, roughly 50-75 people are active and log on regularly between the update blogs. More will obviously log on when there is something announced.
