I dont think this game will make a 2012 release.

Im start to think that we aren't going to make it. Im kinda ok with it though, i want the game to be great when it does come out.

With the lack of game info coming out along with even updates to the main page i dont see it happening.

Again im not complaining, just a little disappointed. I know they are working hard on the game and want to release a solid game that is nice and polished.

I do wish we could get more frequent updates though. Nearly a month since the main page has been updated.

 

There are a million things they've done but haven't shown to us yet. They're spending less time showing off features and more time actually making the game.

 

Hmm, out of question do you have a reason beyond the lack of updates to believe as such?

There is still nearly 2 and a half months to go until 2013, we know that blocks, movement, building, mobs, wiring, spaceships, water, planets, ranged weapons, NPCs, NPC towns, biomes, and possibly other things I missed are either done or nearly done.
We also know that they are currently starting on melee weapons.

Sounds to me like they're just finishing content at the moment, can't see a reason to miss the 2012 release date.

(Not really going "ERR MA GOD U RONG" I'm just curious as to your reasoning here)

P.S. they don't have to show us everything, in fact I'm damn glad they aren't.

Typically most dev teams clam up right before release since they are busy tearing their hair out over tiny little bugs and polish issues. A sudden lack of updates would actually be a good sign.

 

I don't see why anyone would be disappointed though. They never really promised anything; end of the year is as vague as ever. Honestly, it will be the receiver's fault for misinterpreting it, and expecting something else.

Besides, hold your houses, the year hasn't even ended.

Main page updates are slow, forum updates are frequent, twitter updates are constant. Look around a bit, updates are scattered across platforms.

 

To be honest, waaaay back when they said end of summer. I thought damn this cool game coming out right before school, its to good to be true. And it was. To me this release date is probable even if it is on Dec 31st.

 

do any of you remember terraria 1.0.6? oh yes 4 months of balancing. so yeah even if they have all the parts in place it could take awhile to get the game out. Redigit(omnipotent entity) will probly be just as diligent in getting this one right before he moves on so hold on to your hats

 

You don't have any proof that Regidit is Omnipotent Entity.

 

Redigit and OmnipotentEntity are two different people. Redigit has nothing to do with Starbound.

There's no reason to believe they won't make a 2012 release - the lack of updates says very little. (Literally.) Just because there aren't any updates to the main page doesn't mean that they aren't working on it. They have shown videos of players walking around already, and that was a long, long time ago. They've only had the opportunity to keep working on it more.

He never said that he was going to work on Starbound. Demilogic is also hardly in the same vein as Omni.

I remember reading that they were finished all the hard stuff, and it was down to adding small features and polishing the game in general.

From that it's easy to conclude that they will make it by the end of the year.

 

well, lack of updates could also mean that they are focusing a lot more on the game than on making vids of gameplay. Don't get me wrong i'd love to see game updates as well but i'd rather see the game come out sooner and with few bugs than later.

Tiy is not Redigit. Redigit is Andrew "Redigit" Spinks, not Finn "Tiy" Brice.

Demilogic is Demi, or part, and Logic.

OmnipotentEntity, is Omnipotent, all-powerful, and Entity.

Not the same thing.
