I don't care about the new ships, anyone else?

This thread is going to be my death.

Well, I'm just curious does anyone even care about the new ships? I for one didn't even look at the old ships, I don't even remember what they look like.

You know, where are ppl who care more about aesthetics and ppl who care about gameplay. So far CF mostly do thing to make first part of players happy. All gameplay mechanics are either not ready or in stub form. But judging from how many ppl are happy about each update with cosmetic stuff , maybe, it was right choice to make thing this way. But i, personally, preferred if Devs released tech demo they called "Beta" in 2013 as promised, wrote long post about their circumstances and cease to release updates till they move to London. Instead after initial release they made huge hype about updates but fails to deliver almost all of it. What's why ppl are unhappy.

And about ships. No, i don't care about ships upgrades and their looks at all, until they have some impact on actual gameplay aside from being huge storage rooms. Things like "starship crew" and "space combat" comes to mind.

 

They look better and more fitting.

That ship looks like it would only match human though. The thing is there have to be at least some diferences between the races and the ships are the most in your face of them all so they have to be unique. Pyramids for Avians make sense. Besides think of the Goa Uld from Stargate

 

I prefer gameplay stuff but I can't say I hate it.
That can be useful...
also, the fact to have to use resources to repair/upgrade the ship add something to do
and that's not a bad thing.

Regarding changes, you need to keep in mind that content and aesthetic changes are relatively easy to implement. Gameplay changes are more difficult and require much more testing as they can essentially break the entire game.

I do like them.
Sure, gameplay mechanics updates are also something i love, but as far as i have read, ship upgrades will be tied to a new form of progression system, which is also being worked on, so everyone profits, i suppose?

 

i think the upgrades are nice

but i am concerned because bigger ships means less reason to have a base on a planet

 

right now with the smaller ships there's no reason to have one but meh i like to build

 

But... but.... they are larger. Now you make a portable home that's actually large enough to be a home!

Why not? They are in all ways better - bigger size = more chests, and the better look is great for those who love aesthetics.

 

I did care. I got tired of waiting and just got the fully customizeable ship mod, now I don't really care anymore. Will probably still try it out once though.
