This thread needs about six more pages yelling "beta" and "early access" before I can take it seriously.

 

I really thought with the last patch nulling character wipes (that was released pretty recently fyi) useless threads like this would cease to exist.
I guess I'm the ignorant one.

 

I can't understand. The amount of updates hasn't been very great, but when updates happen, we get stuff. A lot of works goes to stuff like implementing mechanics, bugfixing and balancing in this development phase, gameplay content (Items, quests, npcs) come after that.
Coding =/= magic

And I for the Chuckfish.

 

Exept the Devs themself said that we should. Looks like it's impossible right now, but how about a short post about it from Devs explaining the whole situation?

 

The problem is there is no schedule, they can make one update per month like release update with some content every 15th day of the month, release trailer of new things 1 day before update. It can be done, just need organization.
Let some people work on adding new items and stuff, from what we heard they have every system ready so adding new items is not hard, and let the other people work on new features and mechanics, if the patch day comes and no new features/mechanics are ready, release small content update with new items and continue work on the features/mechanic update.
All that in timed manner so we all know when the patch day is and don't have to check 100 twitters and reddids for information.

With the income this game give them, they can hire new coders, artist and what not if they are short on workforce.

 

Starbound has started last summer right sooo....
why are you people so worried the developers themselves said that to make a good game they would take some time. I am just being patient. If you want to spend a very very very very long time posting complaints about Starbound not being released then
just buy the beta no? It's practically made for people who just cant wait for the original game!

I've been hoping for Starbound's release since 2013, and I am quite sure about that. However, that doesn't mean I hope that it's released sooner, I hope it's released when it's done. Granted, I hope it's done sooner =P

 

I don't think we should call the game "be in beta stage."
In a beta, the mechanics in the game are almost completed and only need tweaking. For example, Hearthstone, Diablo 3, Battlefield 4 are near finished in the beta.
But Starbound is different. Questing isn't even implemented, the NPCs are completely pointless because you can't even sell items to them.
And what is the "progress" of the game? The only difference between beginners and end game players are stats. After getting all end game gears, you have nothing to do because building things are useless and giant meteors f***ed you.
In Terraria, you build better settlements to house more NPCs to push the stages of the game, so you not only have to protect them, but set up defenses against the deteriorated world.

 

There is your answer.

 

Hearthstone, Diablo 3, and Battlefield 4 are AAA titles from large, established companies. They CAN'T release a beta in the shape that everyone else does beta, because of the gigantic community backlash. "Beta" from AAA companies is more like "Sneak Preview of a completed product."

Look at all the complaining and entitlement and high expectations from the community on these forums. Now, multiply that by a million. That's the kinda reaction that Blizzard would get if they had a true beta.

Well, the basic idea is - you either provide a constructive feedback where you actually try to have a nice and level-headed conversation or your thread gets locked because of the insults, stupidity and just people being jerks.
That's why the threads are being locked when it comes to... this, whatever it is, complaining I guess.
