I can change flamethrower fire animation?

I unpack the starbound asset and i use photoshop to change a bit the color of flamethrower's blade (the fire inside the blade), and i repack the assets again, but in game the sword still the same! With the blade's sprites i found 3 files, and i open then with notepad, but i dont understand anything. I play starbound in steam :b.

(I dont speak english so much, so sorry for any writing problem xD)

 

i think its easier to make a mod which will change it instead of packing it into the game.
