Well worth it, am I right? EDIT: Post here with a pic of your character and I'll make one for you too! (Are you sure you want one? Lol)
Haha, I didn't actually buy it. I have the CC subscription because I use Premiere for professional video editing. Since I get Photoshop for free out of the deal, I was like... might as well. Also, if anyone wants a really amateur sig like that, post a pic of your character and maybe I'll do it.
I'm pretty sure GIMP can do all the things that Photoshop can, really, but the difference is that art college students won't be my friend if I say that I use GIMP!
Yah, GIMP can do practically the same things... and can do everything of the things that a not-quite-professional user needs. The image in the OP is 100% within it's capabilities. =) That said, I'm still using an ancient PS 5.0. =) Upgrading never seemed worth it. I can edit pictures, all kinds of color gradients and distributions... so it gets the job done. Then again, it's probably a Boys And Their Toys issue, so logic is irrelevant! =)
Honestly, the monthly subscription for getting ALL of the Adobe products is awesome. Since I'm a student, I get 40% off, which means I get access to the entire Adobe suite plus cloud storage for $20 a month. If I decide that I want to be an architect/music producer/flash animator/graphic designer/web designer tomorrow, I'll already have all of the professional tools to do it. Now watch with awe as I do absolutely nothing with all these tools while so many awesome artists would do anything to get their hands on them!
700$? no wonder everyone pirates it lol and that price is basicly beging to be pirated that and sony vega but im sure people only do that for the keygen song
That's why Adobe has stopped selling their products. Now you'll only be able to get the new ones through the subscription service.
Yes. This is not some video game... There's a staggering number of tools and features in this thing. I'm using only a fraction of the old PS 5 and the new ones just got bigger with every release.
It's only a matter of time until someone figures out how to crack that. Probably already has. People will then do as they've done before, and the world will keep turning regardless of this. Fact is, that's what is going to happen until Adobe realizes that $700 for a piece of software is retarded, and that we don't have a genius economist and a geneticist in office, working together to make money literally grow on trees with negligible consequences. Failing that, people will just use GIMP instead, since that's what many people are already doing since it's easier than trying to chase down a torrent. Adobe loses no matter what because they can't seem to stop being clueless about the value of a dollar for three minutes.
wow... I got photoshop CS5.1 for FREE when it was recently released lol.. no friggin way I would spend 700 bucks especially since they keep bringing out new version that you simply could not update to and would have to re-buy. Btw I love my cs5.1
Do you realize that photoshop is meant for professionals and enthusiasts? Adobe does have other products that are a lot cheaper and then there is also student versions. Most of the time a company buys the software and not the individual. 700 dollars is not that much if you start comparing to other software. I use Autodesk Maya at work and it costs 3900 euros (5 335 dollars) at the moment. I also use Photoshop since it really is a must have tool for most graphics artists. The funny thing about this is that even 5000 dollars isn't an extreme case. Some engineering software can cost tens of thousands per licesnse and even have a subscription on top of that. 700 dollars is nothing compared to 30 000 dollars + a yearly subscription fee. The subscription fee itself is usually more than the price of photoshop. Just to put things in perspective let's say that a artist working for some company gets photoshop. He gets paid 15 dollars per hour and works 251 days a year. Using Photoshop instead of some free software he is able to do his job a bit faster. So lets say he get's an average of 15min more work done per day (about 3% more productive). If we calculate how much time this is over a period of one year we get 62 hours and 45 minutes. With a salary of 15 dollars per hour we get 941,25 dollars. So after 1 year the software all ready paid for itself.
That's an awful big market there, I'm sure Adobe will make plenty of money selling an overpriced product to a tiny group of people. ...This is of course forgetting that it's wrong seeing as you can buy the product at any number of base level consumer outlets, ones entirely aimed at non-corporate and non-specialty user sales. I don't even know why I'm bothering to reply to someone defending that. Bleh, disgusting.
They sell a lot of things at base level consumer outlets that cost more than 700 dollars. Again if 700 dollars is too much people can always buy something like Adobe photoshop elements for far less. Elements has enough features for the base level consumer. I don't really understand what the heck is your problem here. Professionals don't really mind the price point of Photoshop CS and Adobe also offers a viable option for the casual user. Like most software companies adobe also offers a student version for Photoshop CS If you can't comprehend that price the product is obviously not meant for you.
