so, instead of giving players the ability to mod (basically toggle), you want the developers to go in and not only give the ability to toggle these features, which is redundant, and hard-change nearly all randomly generated monsters and their abilities to fit this idea? is that really so fool-proof?

this is a rather mute point. how is touch damage bad? because you... get hit by angry monsters? that seems a little... intentional. what with them being angry monsters that want to eat you.

don't blame distant modders for your want of toggle-enabled mechanics. they gave you the script to go and change those very same mechanics you want changed, that doesn't mean they actually have to change it.
you know why they don't change it? because they like it that way, because it makes the game slightly more meaningful. it isn't meant to be a push-over, despite how fun the game was without touch damage or crafting timers or whatever.

I'm inclined to agree with him about not liking touch damage, tbh, but I understand that they aren't going to remove it any time soon. I'm sure when the game is updated less often and is made more moddable there will be mods to change this. This is a very polarized issue and I'd say we should just leave this here. After all, this is an AMA thread, so getting into an extended discussion about touch damage here is probably not the best idea - there are other places to discuss that.

As for the toggling... Well, I'm all up for as much customizability as possible. Even if it involves creating a mod. Starbound modding that doesn't require sprites is pretty darn easy... It just takes a while. But changing a few settings in a custom difficulty wouldn't be too hard I imagine.

...custom difficulties, huh? now that'd be rather interesting. GENIUUUUUUUS.

That's actually probably already possible. We have all the settings nessessary and if people can add extra races to the select screen they can probably add extra everything else too...
Hmm... Eh, anyway, this is not the topic of the thread so we should probably stop discussing this stuff here ''>.>

is there going to be something like a enchanting table where I can put certain right click abilities and element statuses on weapons?

I heard you used to be a spriter for Terraria, do you make sprites for this game too?

Thread necros are generally acceptable provided that the necro itself is on-topic and the thread is still relevant. The AMA hasn't been active for quite some time, so I might close this.

On a side note, please don't make off-topic posts to call out necros. Reporting it will be sufficient, and the user will be notified by staff if necessary.
