Hypothesis about lag...

I've noticed that every time I visit a new planet, the game lag gets progressively worse. A friend explained to me that the worlds aren't actually randomly created planets (if they were, knowing the coords for a planet wouldn't get you to the same exact one as others), like Terraria's worlds. I think the worlds already exist as "seeds" that get unzipped as you travel to them. This is fine, except that we seem to have to keep ALL the data from every planet we've visited, at all times. It's gotten to the point to where I can't even travel a screen without seeing chunks of the world missing, which I then have to wait for before moving. These can take anywhere from a second or two, to a minute+, and I've only explored maybe 40 planets so far.
Can't the game rezip the planets when we leave? My comp is using 1.4 gigs now, just to play the game, not actually doing anything. Two days ago, it was 1.1. That same friend told me that the information is being front loaded onto our ram at all times, using memory it doesn't need and causing extra fps drops.
Is there something I can do about this? Or do I just explore as little as possible, in a game that exploration is THE POINT of the whole game?
If I'm reposting something, I'm sorry. I ran a search for "lag" and didn't get anything that talked about this particular possibility.

I actually haven't had this issue, though I did have major fps drop that required a bit of tinkering around in the files when I first installed the game.
I also have fps drop in highly populated areas such as dungeons, airships and villages. But I also only play for an hour or two at a time, maybe it zips those seeds back up upon exiting the game? I'm not saying your friend is wrong, but in my experience I haven't had these issues.

Odd... It's not just my friend and I, though. I've been chatting with 12-13 others that are having the same issues. Even just after turning the game on, we can't visit a planet without the missing chunks.
Edit: I just loaded the game up and started running to the right of the planet I was over. I got about halfway around...and then started seeing the chunks missing. Took maybe 2 minutes using the butterfly boost.
