Now, everybodies excited for Starbound, who wouldn't be? And a lot of us are running on pure hype and our hype train ain't stopping for nobody! But is our hype for the game positive, or negative? In my case negative and here's why.

I am very strange when it comes to games coming out that I'm going to be getting, I will hover around the site and forums just checking every minute, what this means is every 10 minutes I'm refreshing the homepage in case BETA is released, even AFTER the tweet from a developer stating that when they know the release date for BETA so we will, I'm still refreshing every 10 minutes just HOPING.

No other game holds my attention, all of my time sinks are just, gone. Starbound has hyped me up so much that I can't play any other of my games, PC or otherwise without getting bored, single or multiplayer it doesn't matter their ability to hold my attention for hours is just, gone.

I'm constantly browsing around the forums and site just hoping that Chucklefish will pull a fast one and just release BETA, I know that it won't happen but currently it's the only thing that occupies me, other than eating and sleeping. So tell me, is the Starbound hype having good effects on you, or bad?

I would say bad, trying to do some economics homework, but all I do every 30 minutes is check the forums and the subreddit for Starbound in hopes of something new to feast on.

Pretty good I'd say. I'm super excited for the game, but at the same time I have school to occupy me.

I'm looking forward to the game, but I'm not getting myself worked up over it. I'm just sitting back and waiting.

Hype is great for advertising and making sales. But is bad for the consumer because they have an unrealistic expectation and set them selves up for disappointment.

I misunderstood the poll and voted Good. After reading your entire post, I still vote Good.

It's the anticipation before Christmas. The wait before your birthday. The line at Disneyland. The flight to Cancun. The drive to that awesome barbecue joint. The day before your braces come off. The thumb-twiddling while you await your package in the mail. The agony of finishing your plate before dessert is served. Those moments before going on a first date. All of that is tough, even painful at times, but it is all SO GOOD because you know what's waiting at the end.

    Yes, Starbound hype is good.

HYPE! May cause insomnia,fanboy/girlism,boredom of other games, constant checking of game, constantly thinking about the game. Use only when necessary, don't over use,

I'm personally unable to wait and checking everyday for news about it. I really want to get my hands on beta.

I'd say its good. I mean, they're an indie company and made $1,000,000 just in preorders. That's pretty impressive if i do say so myself. Starbound has a great community and I'm sure that whatever Chucklefish releases, its going to be loved either way. At least, I know I'll be playing :DD

The ending to the anime made no sense.

I am going through the exact same thing, I'm constantly on these forums mashing the Refresh button. And it seems no other games can hold my attention, all I can think about is starbound. But I think of this in a positive light I suppose, instead of being in-game all day I can be on here socializing or try to get some things done in real life. A

You're supposed to make sense in this anime, not have it handed to you.

Off topic of the thread, but the ending totally made sense. People even take a different perspective from it which is great and makes for good conversation with friends.

As excessive as it sounds, I think I would be a lot more patient if I could see another stretch goal.

Kinda feel the same, but I'd be on the site even more to watch the progress haha X3

There's no real indication of when this damn game is going to come out, and then they say there's going to be a 'beta' period, so I'm checking this website constantly. It's shit to have when we'll be able to play as something so ambiguous.

I'm looking forward seeing how this game turns out, and following it with interest, but I'm not getting excessively hyped for it.
Already learnt that lesson when it comes to videogames.

There is a big difference between the following three things:

    Popularity.

    Excitement.

    Hype.

The first two are good, the third is bad.

    Scarcity my friend, scarcity. :p

I should be doing my economic studies too... But nope; Starbound. I was going to make a post about how I used to be crazily obsessed and over-hyped about games, but came to realise that whether I am sitting at my PC waiting for something or not, eventually something will happen and so what if I am a day or two delayed... But here I am on the forums leeching as much content as I possibly can, when I could be doing my uni studies and finishing off a speech that's due to be presented tomorrow.

Some things can happen without you realising! Time to get off my butt and do my studies.
