Welp, didn't really expect the lore would be similar to what I thought of ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I must be blind, because I do not see any water in the image except for the fountain. Also Hylotl's are not fish, they are amipibians, they can not breathe underwater, they need gear to help them last longer underwater. Now that does mean that a sunken dungeon could not exist, but it would have to be dealt with so that not all of it is filled with water., or you will drown.

There are amphibians that stay aquatic and breathe in water even as adults.

Even if the houses will be under a glass dome (underwater), how often is rain there?

Maybe they have roofs because they want to be like the land people.

Doesn't matter in this case, because Hylotls cannot breathe underwater without the appropriate armor. This is confirmed.

Once again, their villages are likely going to be in submerged caves with air-pockets or an equivalent. We'll have to wait and see how the dev. team will handle that.

But either way, Hylotl villages are not literally just going to be out in the middle of bodies of water because they cannot breathe underwater, and at the same time it would be difficult for any non-Hylotl character to reach these villages and stay there for extended periods of time. And I highly doubt that every Hylotl NPC will be decked out in water-breathing armor since they're more likely to be wearing the hylotl-themed clothing instead.

Hm.... maybe this not a good idea :(

  8. I believe that this is a "fantasy" game, or something like that. Besides, who in their right mind would complain about completely awesome underwater Japanese villages?

So just give the water-breathing ability to NPC-only hylotl-themed clothing. And I highly doubt that the devs need to do that at all. Maybe they can even give the NPCs water-breathing without needing special armor. Anyways I do hope Hylotl villages are literally just going to be out in the middle of bodies of water because that's soooooo cool for me.

So basically the devs should do more work to make water villages that certain players will not be able to access unless they have Hylotl armor? Yeah, I dunno about that. Despite wanting your own Bikini Bottom from Spongebob, what we're likely getting is a village that is air-pocketed in some way.

So you mean in a game where players get better equipment to overcome temperature, space radiation and unbreathable atmosphere, these villages, out of all things, should be accessible from the very beginning for all players without special gear at all? Yeah, I dunno about that.

Uhh...yes? We're talking about regular Hylotl villages, not some grand discovery or major hurdle. Villages should be the least of your worries as a player.

Yes. It's villages built by an alien race that seems to have the most different habitat from other playable races (as much as we know so far). Indeed it's not some grand discovery or major hurdle, but I don't think it's necessary for the devs to make them especially accessible either. BTW how much do we know about what villages do anyway?

villagers are obviously early game, since youd start out near one most probably. if i start a game as a hylotl and my friend starts as an avian, we should be able to meet up at my village asap, not have him complete half the game before he can come to my village

Again I must have missed something, because the image does not show the house is actually submerged in water, as someone who as seen water in streams from Tiy, I don't see that any where near the house except for the water coming out of the fountain???

its in the quote above the picture on the first page, and also mentioned on the daily update that this is form. they are PLANED to be underwater, the one in the picture is not.

What about you going to his?
Also at least I don't really know what villages do. From the game background saying that the player character escaping the home planet, and with the "outcast" in race lore allowing for player RP possibilities, I would guess it is rather unlikely that player characters always start near a village.

the players home planet is destroyed by a village, not the other planets, im sure they have settlements on other planets. also id be completely able to go to his, so he should be able to go to mine

    NFossil Phantasmal Quasar

Of course, but we don't know whether the player is escaping just randomly to the stars or heading to other colonies. I guess there may be an option.
And again, I'm against ditching underwater villages just for accessibility at the beginning, especially in a game where overcoming the environment is a part. Wondering if we know anything about trading racial armors - maybe you can just craft a set for whomever wants to visit early in game?

im sure youd be able to trade armor like that. Also ive wanted to play hylotl from the beginning, but completely submerging their villages in water is too unique. It looks bad if they stand out so much against all the other races.
