I accept that most of the generic armors are going to be designed with all the other two-eyed races in mind, but it seems weird to me that even the Hylotl racial armor covers their third eye. Their racial armors ought to be designed with all their eyes in mind.
Just as an update, I'm in tier 3 now and so far all of the Hylotl armors have some big prominent thing that sits in front of their eye. I'm even having some trouble finding any vanity option that doesn't seem like it should partially blind my character. I know they're the odd ones out in character design, but there really ought to be something for them somewhere. Either that, or just ditch the 3-eyed design.
I believe that, if they are intended to look more alien (what with the living underwater, three eyes and all), their associated items should accomodate this fact. So yes, I believe their items should be retooled to represent their faction.
