Hylotl and Novakid themes! (WIP)

Huh... I expected asianess... not pirateness...

Very interesting.

 

Thanks for posting this, i'm so in love with Novakid: "I was the Sun (Before it was Cool)".

 

That Novakid theme is great.
But the Hylotl theme is fantastic.

 

The more I think on it, the more these sound really intense and kind of unsuitable for just background ambience, unlike the rest of the soundtrack. I wonder if they will be the intro and/or credits suite for Novakid and Hylotl characters, respectively--and likewise with the other race themes? Then again, I also thought Vast, Immortal Suns was going to be the title screen music for similar reasons, and I don't think that ended up being true.

 

I love the Novakid theme. Hmm... I wonder what the Floran theme will be like.

 

I've noticed that about portions of the soundtrack. Starbound is a game that benefits from ambiance over cinematic music, as cinematics can be distracting from the general play styles common to this game. However, if they're boss battles or some triggered music, I can see them fitting well enough.

 

Beautiful soundtracks, Curtis sure does an amazing work.

 

The WIP Novakid theme has gotten even sweeter since the progress Curtis streamed! I didn't think it was possible.

As for the Hylotl theme, I have no idea what I was expecting, but goodness, that was downright epic.

I'm imagining these themes playing in the background of an "intro" story when a race is selected, or on a planet where one is the predominant intelligent species. Now I can't wait to hear the lore for both races involved.

I can't stop listening to the Novakid theme, It's utterly fantastic. Really can't wait for the beta and subsequent release. Curious to see the Novakid creation options.

Both soundtracks were alright.

 

the hyotl one is nice but the novakid theme is just..bland.

Really? My first thought was good ol' Spaghetti Westerns.

 

You better don't give the download, they let you listen to them not download them... That way everybody could have the Soundtrack without Pre-Order the game.

 

Can we not do this? I don't want to be a jerk or anything, but I do make 100% of my income from Starbound off OST sales, which this doesn't really help. I try to make things available for the community to listen to, and honestly, there are people who are going to get this when we update the preorder who have essentially already paid for it.

I mean, I'm flattered that you like them enough to go through this kind of work to make them available, but it kind of makes it difficult to sell them later if they've been made available in this fashion.

I can't stop you, and I won't try, but I'd appreciate it if you'd remove these. Do me a solid, eh?

I can definitely appreciate the effort that goes into music that's as good as yours (and in my opinion, a game composer makes better music than the sue-happy huge labels), so I completely understand this reaction. You want to earn a living from music, which can be hard, especially for indies, so it's completely okay.

Guys, if you want the up-to-date tracks, preorder the game damn it. Curtis definitely deserves the money.

I love the whole soundtrack but the Novakid's theme is my favourite (of course I may be biased. xD *stares at avatar*)

I'm listening to the Hylotl's theme right now. It's really amazing stuff.
