Hunger Bar Visibility

Personally I find it frustrating having a hunger bar that is constantly hidden unless it try's to notify you about it. If you miss the message for some reason the next time you know about it is when the games screaming at you to get some food. While this prompts you to eat its not all to clever when you have just started the game off as food is a little bit uncommon at early stages.

Maybe the update tonight will sort the issue as food wont be so uncommon early on in the game but I still feel not being able to view the hunger bar when you need to rather than when the game wants you to is a little bit clunky and frustrating at times.

Im not sure what other people think about this but at least within my group of friends we all think along the same lines about it.

Maybe a solution to this would be to add a hot key that makes the hunger bar pop up on demand for a few seconds?

 

Well, it's not so uncommon if you plan your steps right. First off, you should make a stone pick and axe, then a hoe. Plant some things, they take little time to grow and you have food. If you want meat, attack the monster with your sword until it has 1 or 2 bars of health and finish it with the bow (unless you have the Iron Bow, you can one-shot most daytime threat 1 monsters)

 

Theres no reason for the hunger-bar to not be a part of the permanent U.I It doesnt have to be elaborate, a simple bar or dots near the HP meter would do.

 

I agree. I would like the hunger bar to be visible constantly. I don't think it would clutter the HUD.

 

I don't really want it visible all the time in the format that it is currently. If it was a smaller bar say with my portrait at the top that would be fine. I would however, prefer a way to check it from time to time.

 

Having it at the bottom all the time would be annoying. We could still keep the notifications for extreme cases of hunger, but other hunger notifications should go and a permanently visible hunger bar should be added.

 

It'd be nice if it at least showed up when you press the status key. (The one that shows names and highlights objects. Alt, I think?)

 

I personally expected it to be on some sort of screen - likely the Inventory, as all my other character stats are there. I was rather surprised and a bit sad when I realized that you really couldn't check it like that

 

This too. Inventory was the first place I looked.

 

/showhunger will show you the bar and in chat it will show the value. (1 = full hunger and 0.XXXXXXX = need to eat) The bar is still glitchy tho, not showing the right amount of hunger when you eat. But its still able to work with.

 

Already fixed. Close maybe?

 

At least there could be a button to make it pop up on demand.
