Human/Guard/Doctor Spawners

    I've read somewhere that building a small room surfaceside, with a spawner, will invoke a npc to appear a la terraria. Does anyone have experience with this, or can confirm that they are functional currently? I'm so busy exploring and testing other things I reckoned I'd ask here... Does anyone know more about them?

    I have found both a doctor and a miner spawner and they both worked. I placed them on my ship and they spawned npcs after I left and came back.

    The spawners activate when you're past a certain distance of them(including going off planet), they behave the same way as current villager npcs. So you can build a whole custom town and populate it with them. Further note, if planning to build a town that you want of a specific race... Guards appear as a random race, random equipment (melee or gun). Guards call you boss. I found Tool Merchant Spawner, Stim-Pack Merchant, and a Doctor Merchant. The later two, killed by a friend in my ship.
