Well, if you want to have it so racial plating blocks are spare parts I would guess the Penguin Bay would be the more fitting option. However, I do have no idea whether that could work.
Infinity Express would be fair game if Penguin Bay really doesn't work.

Btw, the Novakid plating blocks are super nice! Thanks for those!

 

Ah. The background blocks (the corner pieces all crammed together on the right side) that are only used when you put them down with the right mouse button. I see now.

Oddly enough, getting some Novakid appropriate blocks was one of the main reasons I started this mod. I didn't have any to build the Novakid version of my Ship Yard mod out of.

There's a few more features I want to add to this before I'll switch back to working on the other mod for a version or two and then there will be an alternate version of it built on these blocks. To be honest, I've been having trouble getting my ship trim blocks to look right. Currently, they look like pipes/tubes, instead of recessed, lit grooves, like they appear on the ships.

It would seem that no matter what I do, I'll never get the corners right if I directly copy the ship trim from the ship backgrounds. I'll figure something out this weekend. I'll have more time then.

This is a somewhat more successful version of the ship trim blocks I've been working on. I had to make some odd compromises to get it to work right. My previous attempts looked like crap.

At least now I've figured out how to move forward on this thing. I'm just not sure if this thing should pop out (like it looks now) or look recessed. I'm going to have to experiment with the other way, now. Heck, I could always provide both. Why choose?

I just have to fix up the rest of them and then adjust the paint layer to match.

I tried out the recessed version and it looks a little strange.


It looks more lit from behind than recessed, doesn't it? I think I'll just stick with the first version.

Would anyone want some recolored Wall Panel to match the color schemes of races other than Apex?

Working on this mod has made me notice that Wall Panel matches the color scheme of Apex ships pretty closely. It uses the same color palette.

Making variants to match the other ships would be easy. Getting the painted version right will be difficult, however.

Just wanted to post some screenshots of ships that I've swapped out the Wall Panel on, just for fun.

I like how the Glitch ship looks.



I'm also thinking I need to add another Floran variant, since the furniture of that ship uses pink metallic highlights.

I hadn't planned on it, but that sounds like a fun art challenge.

Hrm. I can use my current platforms as a base. White edges, like glass blocks. I'll make sure I grab the exact color for that. Erase the interior and perhaps throw in the shine marks from the Glass Block.

I think that's doable. I'm not sure how it will look until I test, however. I think it will look vaguely like somebody carved a platform out of glass blocks.

I don't think I'll have the time until tonight, however. Gotta sleep at some point, hehe.
