Alright, i found something out last night... The damage on the weapons isn't actually its damage.

    EXAMPLE
2 handed sword with 1.20 swing speed and 28 damage right? BUT its the starting sword, you then go to a level 4 planet and its now doing really bad damage.... IF YOU FIND a sword on that LEVEL 4 planet with LESS DAMAGE example, ANOTHER two handed sword with 1.20 swing speed but with 20 damage, it WILL do about 3x more damage than your starting sword...

I tested this by going to higher level planets and comparing swords from different level planets, the damage on the swords isn't what you should all be looking at... ITS THE LEVEL OF THE PLANET IT WAS ACQUIRED ON THAT DETERMINES ITS DAMAGE.

Hope some of you find this useful that found the game a bit hard.

Update, This is also the same for the element on the weapon, the Elemental effect has a higher base damage if its found on a higher level planet. (even if the damage of the sword says its only like 10 it will most likely be hitting 40-50+)

are you sure your not just forgetting to take into account armor penetration?

I also found weapons, like the starting weapon which had 28 damage, but it also have 15 armor penetration, and resulted in doing like 100 damage a hit, even on level 11 planet :O

I think that armor penetration is the thing which is making a huge difference

No weapons do have differnt armor penetration I am currently using two one handed swords with a AP of 5 instead of 1

Perhaps the weapons were mislabeled? Maybe armour penetration is a thing?

I think Shidiwen1990 meant only the weapons they tried it with.

Armor penetration surely plays a large role ...
I replaced my starting sword with an iron shortsword that had less damage (25 vs. 28), was slower,
but had an armor penetration of 5 vs. the 1 of the basic riort sword
and suddenly the Level 4 monsters, that roamed the planet during the night turned from being a challenge, to being defeated with 2 strikes

ok :) found something out... the armor penetration on weapons... is equal to the planets level.

EXAMPLE If you are on a level 20 planet.. you will find weapons with 20-24 ARMOR PENETRATION. Those allow you to progress easier. DO NOT USE A WEAPON THAT HAS LESS ARMOR PENETRATION THAN THE LEVEL OF THE PLANET, YOU WILL DO HORRIBLE DAMAGE.
