    "If"?
    Don't you mean "when"?
Indifference, most likely; Tiy and company have been working on Starbound for a year and a half now; a ripoff would be playing from far behind.

It's a typical product of a (supposedly) free market economy. It's expected, and therefore of no suprise to me. There is _ALWAYS_ going to be some garage born script-kiddie shop that will either rip, steal, borrow, and/or follow in the foot-steps of greatness. I can't even begin to list the number of clones that spun off from Minecraft, and Terraria alone. It's borderline comical.

I will say this much, from what I've seen thus far if Starbound delivers (and on time), those "copy-cats" will have a _VERY_ tough time pole-vaulting this high bar..

To para-phrase "Juicebox" style: Nanohurtz will not display emotion.

If a company "ripped off" starbound but made it better and released then the free market dictates that we should buy that instead and all be happier with our purchase.
    I know I would be.

Edit: arn't you the guy who claimed star command was a ripoff?

I chose "other" simply because it's an option.
To be honest, I really wouldn't care.

Hey, if they can pull off making an epic game similar to Starbound, then to hell with Starbound.
If this hypothetical game was better, I would play it.
    No offence chucklefish. :3

No he wasnt. Red clearly stated Tiy was never part of the team. Red only stated he hired Tiy to make some art for the game, and when the game was done, Tiy was out.

Open-world and sandbox games are not the same. A sandbox game is called so due to it being a tool for creativity. You get your sand, your shovel, your bucket, water, whatever, and you make your own game. And open-world game is a game that doesn't restrict you to closed spaces (at least most of the time), allowing exploration on your own terms.

Edit: With regards to the topic at hand, anticipatory. If it was done well, I'd probably like the 'rip-off' more than the original game, as it would have the hindsight of adding on top of an existing work.

    Oh really?
Still, I don't see your point, making art for a game is actually working.

I've decided to start replying only to thread titles and not thread content.

With that in mind: I would react synonymously.

    Thank you.

Again, rip off=bad, a quick cash grab, copying a popular thing(ususlaly very badly) to make money. What you're talking about is actually good, yes. But the OP is talking about rip-offs.

The real missing poll option would be:I wouldn't give a fuck.
