I will feel excited, because two great games are better than one. Anything other is contrary to the progress of gaming industry/art. Each great man stood on the giants' shoulders. If hominids wouldn't try to copy each other's ideas and creations, with hopes to tweak and enhance them, we'd still lived in caves.

We're already working on it. PC has also been getting improved ports of console platformers lately in addition to games made for it like Starbound. See: Dust: An Elysian Tail and Mark of the Ninja, both of which probably wouldn't have hit PC a few years earlier. For whatever reason, PC is getting looked at as a target for all sorts of stuff it wasn't before, heck we're even getting MK9 which I honestly thought we never would.

If it would be hugely popular someone would do it. If it was just a ripoff, it would probably just be bad and nobody would play it, maybe some ppl would buy it "on accident".

If it was just "hey, let's do same thing but better/different"... well, where's harm in that, having more games in genre is a good thing

If it were a company like Bethesda, I'd be happy. :lolwut: D: I'd check out the game just to see how many funny glitches there are. *cough cough Skyrim, Fallout 3, etc.*

It's difficult to say. If it were the same concept but done in a different way (such as having a more fantasy-based theme instead of sci-fi for example) with mechanics that aren't just copied but improved on and given even GREATER depth, then I think I'd be excited to see what they come up with. But if it's just a blatant copy then I'd probably ignore it out-right. There's plenty of Minecraft clones out there I haven't given the time of day, and I've even seen some bad Terraria clones that TRY to do something different but utterly miss the point.

Starbound, as amazing as we all expect it to be, isn't going to be an end-all-be-all game. I think it'll likely become one of this generation's classics, but it'd be pretty sad if it just stopped there don't you think? In a few years time I want to see something even better! <3 Or at least have updates to the game to look forward to to keep things fresh, you know?

It depends, are we talking a game using the same assets? I don't remember, but there was a game clearly using similar if not exact assets as world of tanks. Needless to say wargaming.net got it under a cease and desist I believe. On one hand there's only so many ways you can do a ww tank game, but it was nearly a carbon copy. Edge of space is its own game, and in my opinion is not a ripoff. It's heathy competition

The question's a bit vague. If it was a carbon copy, yeah, I would be a bit annoyed. However, we don't have starbound out anyway, so I'm not really sure you could say it's a rip off. Now, I would probably be a bit annoyed that a large company would try something like this, but I would secretly be smiling because now Tiy and Rho and them know EXACTLY what to make better than the competition.
    So, I guess I wouldn't really care.

I'm going on the assumption here this would be better for saying perhaps a Korean bootleg. Example:
Then we'd have a problem. Another example: http://kotaku.com/5926795/creators-of-torchlight-ripoff-say-its-not-a-torchlight-ripoff
(sorry for it being kotaku, don't read the comments and just look at the basic images and you'll be fine.)
but yes... Assets are the thing that makes the game the game, if they've stolen the assets then yes it is a rip-off but you know what it doesn't matter since it'll get bad press and hence be removed forever. So nope don't really care.

Where is "Happy"? I would love more takes on this genre. Seriously, how does another company working on a similar game hurt this one? If this game is good (sure looks like it will be), people will buy it. If the other game is good they will buy that too. Unless you only buy one game a year i don't see how this could possibly be a bad thing. I, for one, love this new take on Terraria and would love to see other developers have their own takes on it as well. It can only make the genre better.
