how would you react if a company ripped off starbound?

just out of curiosity if say a large company like blizz made a game that was a clear rip off of starbound and released it and made money off it how would you react?
would you feel angry, annoyed , sad etc

I don't know... how does the Terraria community feel right now?

 

Excited that Tiy is working on another, even more ambitious, game.

As I answered "other" on the poll (it's horribly vague), I'd like to specify that I selected that because there's no option for "I wouldn't care if another company made a game very similar to Starbound".

 

Me and my friends would most likely flame them. A lot. Like we would devote our lives to flaming for a while.

 

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't change anything, Starbound has a pretty solid community and the game isn't even out yet.
So, other, my first reaction being "meh".

It's inevitable something of the like will happen but I doubt the project will ever take off. Hell, somebody I know online is making one and is expecting to release it soon, though I bet only a few dozen people have even heard about it.
If one does in fact become successful, I wouldn't care. As long as annoying fanboys from the Starbound ripoff don't pester our community I'm fine. No doubt they would, but I'm sure there would be guidelines made to prevent it from becoming an issue

I say the more options the merrier. Now whichever game has the best content at the best price would be the one I would play. That being said and based on what we've seen, I don't see anyone catching up to Chucklefish for a good while. A look at the videos so far shows that the developers are really putting their heart and a ton of effort into this game.

 

You mean something like Edge of Space?

I'd be pretty indifferent. The game is niche enough that a big time company wouldn't bother with ripping it off, and any smaller company making a similar game isn't a bad thing since competition always brings out the best of both sides.

I'd be annoyed that some one went and copied everything.

 

The more games of its kind the better for all of us, eventually not every single idiot will do the same thing, and some will show ways to improve this type of game.

More games to play is never a bad thing, and a bit of healthy competition ensures that the industry keeps evolving.

 

My fury would be beyond this dimension.
