How would we pressurize water if possible?

In the water tech demo, we have seen water contain and pressurized, but how the heck did they get it in their? I could see how the planet generator would create instant pressurized water, but can we manually pressurize liquids?
    Perhaps a pump
and ..... uh....... well a pump is the only thing i can think of.
    But what do you think?

You know, I was thinking about that. I am hoping that we can pressurize our own water for various purposes. A pump seems like one of the drew plausible solutions, I just pray that it gets implemented. Many an amazing structures and contraptions wouldn't exist if players can't pressurize their own water.

How intricate pumping water can be is up to the dev team. I'd like to build an actual sewer system for my cities, and pressurized water is a must if I am to realize this dream.

And imagine, we can make water pressure elevators!

I'd make some ballin' high-pressure water jets. And maybe - if they applied general Newtonian physics to the game - water jet powered vehicles!

    That's probably a stretch though.

    But yeah, pumps are cool.

I'm looking forward to the already developed effects of water that will push players (and hopefully monsters?) to use to defend cities.

"Oh look, a group of bandits approaching my town. Here, let me flip this switch and open the floodgates that I spent 6 hours designing, building, and filling with water and watch you get swept away with no damage done whatsoever."

    Totally worth it.

Make orbital bombardment lasers! Except instead of lasers they'd be squirt guns.

water -> oil. Plus fire. muahahaha~

One of the best parts of the original Stronghold game xD

only problem is that it doesnt work like that in real life, to compress water you are pushing the molecules into eachother and you need a ton of force to overcome the electromagnetism pushing them apart, so that you need something like the weight of a planet to do so. I talked about it with some other guy BassmanBiff and he says that he is fine with compressible alien liquids, but he wants water to work like real water. (and I agree)

There's a difference between compressing water and pressurizing water.

Weight of a planet you say?

yeah, but the first post is about the compressed water we see in the demo, which is pressurized like it should be but it is also compressed which makes no sense

The water in the demo isn't compressed, it's pressurized.

Actually, in the video the water was compressed, when the water was released the volume of space it took up was larger than the containing space, that means the water was compressed. Pressurised water doesn't take up any more or less volume, it's simply displaced by something else very rapidly (for example, a compressed gas -- gas can be compressed unlike liquids).

Huh. I'll take your word for it, I guess.

Welcome to the forums, by the way!

Either way, I like the way it is in the game, despite any technicalities or physics involved. Whether or not it's plausible or possible, I enjoyed the way it worked.

Or they haven't perfected the water yet. For example, Terraria (yes I know different language etc blablahblah) had an "infinite liquids" glitch.

I never contested that. I was simply saying that the water in the video was compressed instead of simply pressurised. I have no problem with that system anyway, it's not "realistic" but it's enough for me.

I have to say, screw physics. I don't really care if water is compressible, Just look at minecrafts water!

Perhaps you will need to fill a tall container with tons of water (making high pressure at the bottom) and then cut off the bottom that is at that pressure, and drain away the top.
It would probably work even without some game mechanic you have to rely on.
