Hello, I am not really into modding but I've done a lot in this game so I want to try it out. I would like to know how to work with vanilla assets, first reason would be that I really can't do any nice pixelated graphics stuff, second thing would be that I would like if everybody in multiplayer could see/use them without having my mod. For instance, weapons that use those nice projectiles some creatures throw at me or just some male clothing with female sprites and other things like that. I guess it mostly the same stuff like with other mods, I just don't know how to point the mod to the vanilla asset sprites.
You would need to unpack the assets and then figure out the file path to the sprites you want. One thing though: Weapon projectiles and monster projectiles are not interchangeable. You would have to create new projectile files that look similar.
Is it really so easy? just point them in that unpacked assets folder? Okay, I guess I'l just have to play with it for a while, test it and stuff.
Your mod will still be invisible since it creates new things even if it uses the vanilla textures, you would need to use your mod to replace the features of an existing vanilla item.
Well, there are already mods that are multiplayer compatible, some OP and god items I believe, or Fully Customisable Ship mod. I was just asking if there is a way to point out the mod into original game assets in the original folder.
