Hey guys! After being frustrated with there being not much help on unpacking the packed.pak for the macbook, I decided to figure it out myself! After 2 days of banging my head on the wall a post from @mescale helped me out tremendously.

    Step 1:

    Locate your Starbound folder
Option 1) Go to Finder and press Command+Shift+G (you dont press the plus by the way)

    Type in /Users/INSERT YOUR USERNAME HERE/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Starbound/assets
    Go to Step 2.

Option 2) Open up Steam and Hit Library

Right click Starbound and select properties

Then click the LOCAL FILES tab and select BROWSE LOCAL FILES...

And then open the assets folder
    Go to Step 2.
Option 3) Go to the chat if these dont work for you. I know 2 more ways.
    Step 2:

In assets you should see these 2 folders

    1) See the Folder called "starbound_assets" add a folder called that. (It doesnt have to be called that. It would just be easier to follow along)
    2) Open another Finder window

    3) Do Step 1 in that window except click on "osx" instead of "assets" REPLACE /assets/ in the search to /osx/

    4) Locate "Spotlight Search" on your "menu bar" and type in terminal

    5) In "osx" drag "asset_unpacker.sh" into terminal

    6) DONT PUSH ENTER UNTILL WE ARE DONE TYPING!! (dont press the spacebar before the first 2 periods. it did it for you) Now in terminal type: ../assets/packed.pak ../assets/starbound_assets
    7) Push enter. When done correctly it should look like this: (with your username in place of 1027203 and the thing before that)

    8) Click on "starbound_assets" and all the files should be in there

    HOPE THIS HELPED!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
