How to repair / make techs?

How do I repair my pickaxe?

I found a tech blueprint and learned it, I can't find where to make it..

 

Put an ore of the same type as your pickaxe in your hand and right click onto your pickaxe. To learn tech, just go to your ship and open the tech menu to equip it, no building necessary.

 

So there's no way to repair it on the ship without using the ore?

 

I don't understand. Does it have to be the raw ore of the pickaxe or can it be blocks that your put in your right hand? Either way, it didn't seem to work for my copper pickaxe.

 

Yeah I'm kind of confused on this as well.

 

Pick up a piece of the ore (Copper Ore for Copper Pickaxe, etc) and right-click your tool with it. A portion of the tool's health will be restored and the ore will be consumed.

 

And I just found out that it can be any ore. And yes it has to be raw ore.

 

Ah the fact it has to be an ore is probably why I thought it wasn't working i was trying to repair my stone pick and that one doesn't seem to do anything at all.

 

I am also able to repair my silver pickaxe with copper ore. I guess it also works on gold pickaxes, not sure about platinum or diamond.

 

You can repair all pickaxes with all ores, which is useful given how plenty of copper there's everywhere. I'd just wish they'd tell you that too and how to do it in the tutorial <.<

 

I'm not sure with the latest updates, but when I last checked, only copper, silver, gold, platinum, and diamond ores repaired pickaxes.
The reason for this is that in the pickaxe asset files it only has repair values for those ores. Iron, and higher tier ores like titanium can't repair pick axes unless you add the repair values yourself.

 

I don't know why but I can't repair the diamond pickaxe
I right click on it with diamond ore in my hand but it won't work


Edit: Well it appears it doesn't matter what ore it is. I used silver ore to repair it.
