I'm running starbound on an Alienware M11XR2 laptop, 7.80 usable GB RAM, 64-bit operating system. Windows 7 OS. Ever since starbound was first released, I've had horrible lag in areas with high NPC counts and areas with a surplus of decor items. The rest of the game is fine, but the minute I go into those areas, my laptop starts chugging at 2-3 FPS. Sometimes lower. I LOATHE going to the outpost because of this. Not only is the FPS sluggish, it actually slows my character's movement. While I'm struggling with low framerate I see my friend charging ahead at x2 speed, also known as "normal running speed"..... Any ways to fix this, or at least make it bearable? I'd love it if starbound had some sort of quality system (toggle smooth lighting and animated decor effects, maybe?) but nope. Maybe it's just poor optimization, since it's still in dev? My computer can handle a bunch of flailing ragdolls in gmod and misc nonsense in skyrim on medium to high quality, can run terraria without a hitch unless there are a TON of particles on-screen, but can't so much as touch a village/facility/outpost here.
No real way to increase performance, ya gotta wait till they optimize it, wich is ggonna take awhile. Shucks, but its the only thing ya can do.Though I did hear of a Mod that optimizes the Outpost, but dunno bout that, maybe it can help?
