No it's not working. We are on the same LAN and no ip adress is working correctly.

    Go on your start menu
    Click Run
    Enter "cmd" in the search
Once you are in the command prompt, enter the command "ipconfig"
A whole bunch of things are going to come up, but scroll up until you find "Ethernet adapter Ethernet:"
Under that section, you will find "IPv4 Address", and type in the corresponding numbers into Starbound Multiplayer
    Enjoy

what port needs to be forwarded, this is getting annoying there is zero information available -.-

  10. Been able to play with a friend, you need to portforward the port 21025 TCP

As class101 pointed out, you need to forward port 21025 to the PC that is running the server. If you're going to be hosting a server for friends over the internet, go to:

    ifconfig.me

To find out your external IP address. That's what they will input to connect to the server. I've tested this setup from my remote PC running a server, and it works perfectly.

I have forwarded port 21025 TCP

    Can anyone help me out?

Port forwarding methods is Router Specific, I would recommend looking up your routers model and see how it handles port forwarding. Generally speaking you have to connect to it by typing "192.168.1.1" in a web address, and enter the routers username and password (The default password is router specific, But is generally "Admin" for a username and your Wepkey as a password.) Under the various settings, look for Port forwarding, and set a new port number set to your computers local IP address...

    Ok, clearing things up,
click the button on the launcher that says something like Start Multiplayer Server (along those lines)
Keep the window that pops up open!
Then, proceed to my previous comment and continue

  15. +1 follow NubbyBoy infos, Btw when I wrote to portforward 21025 TCP this was to respond to Anatha but in the case of the OP , he's on the same LAN, so forget the portforwarding recommendations they do not apply to you if you are on the same LAN, sorry for being confusing I must have quoted.

Did you Port forward and give them your global IP? Routers are set up to prevent server hosting by default, so you have to manually allow starbounds port to be open... And your Local IP would not work (Unless your in lan, but then you would also not need to open your port if your in lan). you have to figure out what your Server IP is... I personally go to IP monkey http://www.ipmonkey.com/ that website will tell you right off the bat what your Global IP is...

assuming you open the server port, started the server, and got your IP, all thats left is to give your friends the IP and play.

Is there a server software? Or do we just port forward and give out our IP and people start popping into our world?

I made the mistake of CLOSING Command Prompt (this pops up as you go to launch a server, the box is black with white text) since closing command prompt I haven't been able to host a server, even with reboot of PC.

So again, DO NOT CLOSE COMMAND PROMPT!
